So am I warped, or does this sound like a cool idea?

I've been trying to figure out how to decorate one wall in my home office, it's probably 8x10, and I keep coming back to the idea of covering it with glovebox doors with the SPID panels showing. Is this a good idea, or will it look totally stupid when done? I've got a half dozen, so it might take a while to get all that I need, but thought it might be something no one has done before. Thoughts or suggestions?

Simply put...if you like it--do it. I think we have a board member who has his garage decorated with tail gates

Re: So am I warped, or does this sound like a cool idea?

I thought just looking at all the SPIDs and wondering who ordered them that way, and if the truck was even still around anymore, would make for good BSing with friends while drinking beer. I'm going to start hitting the salvage yards pretty dard to see what I can come up with, cause it's probably going to take 100 or so to cover the wall.

I think it would be very cool. And I think you must not be married! And that's quite alright - go for it!

I think there is a member on here that did that but he has them so you can actually open them and look at the SPID.

Sounds cool. I would try to at least make the ones 4' off the floor so they can open - you need something to set your cold beer on right? GM put indents on either side of the SPID - might as well use them.

Cool idea might get a little spendy collecting 100 glove box doors. I plan on making a cabinet using some unique ones I have collected.

Laplander - I am a traveler too! I think it is a great idea, not warped at all but better for the garage near the kegerator. I really like Sharpie1972's wall, but I would mount them on a frame so that I could take them with me easily if I had too. G.

Got your PM, but wanted you to see what you were getting before sending money. I sold the gold one so I was talking about the green and the blue.

that's where my (small) collection of glovebox doors resides - the garage.
I have no room inside the house because of my hubcap wall

Re: So am I warped, or does this sound like a cool idea?

Agent915, When my wife and I were dating I laiddown the law than that my udget was divided into three things, food, shelter, and car and Harley parts, but not exactly in that order. The first time she come home to a house lit by andles cause I had to replave the clutch in my 70 Road Runner, she was not amused. She's put up with a Harley in the living room, and a flathead as a coffee table, so a couple of tailgates and a bunch of glove box doors isn't going to phase her.LOL

Re: So am I warped, or does this sound like a cool idea?

I understand all too well. My wife brought some friends from work over one evening to show off some work we'd done on the kitchen. They walked in to see a set off wheels in the floor and on the table. I said hey, they needed polishing!! Life is all about prioities. Oh, the off or from thing about "Lodge". I was raised in 1995. You?
