help me find a disc brake conversion

My brakes are gone on my rear axle and I want to switch them to disc brakes. The problem I'm having is finding out which which axle I have, in order to get the right kit.

Anyone got any ideas / leads?

Also, any leads on a 4 link kit? I currently use the truck as a car hauler, and have loaded close to 10,000 lbs of stuff on it before so the weight requirements are more than a show truck, but the springs are all old and rusty, squeaky and ride really badly. Additionally it would be a bit cooler in shows.. (just as a bonus)

Re: help me find a disc brake conversion

Looks like the 14 bolt in my 96. Check www.justdifferentials.com I bought 3 sets of gears and bearings from them. Call them they will try to help.

Re: help me find a disc brake conversion

That is a GM 10 1/2 inch full floater, commonly known as a 14 bolt. It is not original to the truck since they started using them in '73. There are tons of people who make disk brake conversion kits for that axle since it is a very popular swap for the off-road crowd. Check the classifieds at http://www.pirate4x4.com.
