I totally agree with you. I am not into the "tuner" crowd but I have to give credit to them for trying and the technology is pretty amazing. And there is a place and time for everything.

The "tuner" crowd can be your friends on grudge night ! But believe me when i tell you they will eventually catch on and you won't be able to find a race at the drag strip on street car night . It is fun to watch them struggle and pull off to the side just so they don't have to get next to you .

Re: Just a kid with a dream

I guess I took his comment a little to heart being there is an LS based motor residing in between my frame rails. Does it get tuned on the dyno by me, sure. Do I analyse a lot of data from the dyno and the track. You betcha. But what decently fast racer doesn't look at data. In that respect, we are all "tuners"

As mentioned earlier in this thread, I know a 17 year old that started building his LS based truck when he was 15. I promise it would run a solid mid-low 12 at the strip NA. Given it doesn't have the 5.3 in it anymore and runs a 408ci LS motor.

My point, don't assume all LS guys are stuck up and slow

Yea , better watch out there is some serious LS powered equipment out there . There is a Fox bodied mustang down here with a 6.0 truck motor that flys . Down here there is a large number of newer LS powered trucks . Like 50% of the crowd on friday street car nights . Mostly stockers or some on spray . I think this is the "crowd" he is refering to .

Re: Just a kid with a dream

Sorry if i came off as a hater towards the LS engines, I honesty like them better for almost everything (Mileage, power, reliability, ect.) but nothing beats a big, nasty, loud, old school mouse or rat, in an old street rod truck. Just My opinion, hope I didn't ruffle too many feathers...

Re: Just a kid with a dream

Lets try not to steal anyones post here but if I could afford an ls motor I'd be there and this comes from someone that has lived his short 13 years behind the wheel driving nothing but gen one v8's. I wish I would have done some stuff when I didn't have a bunch of bills to pay like keep my highschool car and prostreet it but thats a thing of the past. Now to the OP when are you going to have it running and driving?
