Re: callin out all loud exuast systems!!!

Headers, true dual exhaust, glass packs, exit out in front of the rear axle. There was a thread on here earlier that had videos of member's exhaust systems that was pretty cool.

Re: callin out all loud exuast systems!!!

I have Hooker full length headers, with Flowmaster 40 series 2 1/2 inch pipes exiting after the rear tires. It is decent at idle, but if you get on it, its loud. I set off alarms in parking lots with cars parked next to me all the time. The muffler shop that did it advised me not to do Super 40s because they are way louder. I wanted them but I let him talk me out of it. I imagine they are loud and they cost about the same, a few dollars more. I am lucky to have cool neighbors for the most part. They dont complain about noise.
Good luck with your loud exhaust !!!

Sportin' long tubes, glass packs & turn-downs behind the roll pan. Hell, I even annoy myself!

Re: callin out all loud exuast systems!!!

My 67 K10 327 has factory manifolds, 2"pipes, worn out turbos right after the cab, exhaust turns down at the axle. With my old rusted out cab it seemed louder at idle than when you were running. Set off several alarms while coasting thru parking lots. Hopefully when I get it back on the road with a more solid cab it will seem a little quieter.

Re: callin out all loud exuast systems!!!

I have the long tube headers, with a regular turbo mufflers that right under the cab, sounds ok to me but I want a little meaner sound.Question if I run pipes straight to the back without mufflers only with headers will it be to much?

Re: callin out all loud exuast systems!!!

I'm running stock rams with 2.5 inch tubing. Mufflers are Flowmasters 40 off an older street/strip car I was building.

The motor in the truck is still stock trim, so it is not too loud. It can set off alarms, but that is usually caused by vibration. I always get looks when I drive my ol heep, cuase it is loud as it screams down the road. It has 4:10 gears so the motor is usually spinning fast.

My neighbors don't mind the truck, but they hate one of my Harleys. I run a Supertrapp header with an open end and a hi-comp motor.... Now that sets off alarms all over the place

One note, my brother and his wife drag race cars. When he starts one of their cars, just to tune it up or check a new setup. In a matter of minutes, he gets the cops cruising around his house. Seems one of his neighbors calls and complains in a matter of seconds. Just something to think about.

Here's a short video of mine (my first try at video so it's rather 'b'). Sanderson shortys, H pipe, Flowmaster 40's, 2.5" to 3" tips out back.

Re: callin out all loud exuast systems!!!

Mine is long tube headers. 3" pipe to some home-made flowmaster 40's. They each have 2 elbows on the back pointing out just ahead of the rear tire. A buddy of mine had a 40 cut apart and I figured I'd make 2 in class for the heck of it. 2 things I would change is an H pipe somewhere and electric cut outs. I have to agree with Hoffman65burb, the cam makes it sound all the better. I took off the exhaust past the headers on Friday just to hear it idle (wife was out of town for the weekend). If it weren't for the headache I always get, I'd listen to it all day long. Loud exhaust rocks.

I'd run a moderatley loud exhaust and electric cut-outs, open headers are fun (belive me, I know), but you don't wan't to drive very far like that, it starts to get anoying.

Re: callin out all loud exuast systems!!!

How loud/obnoxious do you want to go? If you are going for a loud, but liveable sound, then longtube headers into your muffler of choice dumped before the rear axle is going to get loud when you get on it. However, under normal driving it will be controlled enough to listen to a stereo.

If you are going for looking to rattle the glass then cherry bombs/glass packs/header dumps. I ran my truck with just the headers for a week and that was insanely loud. It really did set off car alarms...

On my '71 I have Hedman longtubes, 2.5" pipes, into an X-pipe that go into Magnaflow mufflers that exit under the bed prior to the rear axle. Result: Awesome mellow sound around town and a very muscle-truck loud sound under WOT.

On my '94 Corvette, I have Hooker LTs, 2.5" pipes, x-pipe into Borlas. Result: quieter than the '71 around town, and a more raspy WOT sound.

Ive had this system on 2 different trucks & it always sounds nuts

Long tube headers, 3" pipe ran true dual, with Cherry Bomb Extreme mufflers under the bed on one truck & out the side of the bed on the other

Sounds awesome to me

Crappy old vid that the sound isnt that great on... its WAY louder
