Re: 1974 CCSB build

The roof has a few issues (weird rust above the doors at the center pillar?), so I hadn't 100% settled on the color. I was actually planning on redoing the roof on Clifford in a white diamond like a Lexus or Kia color so the pearl would be really tiny- thinking the same thing here. I went with a buddy to the Harley store (I really don't belong in there), and there was a matted white pearl bike. It was a trip. I thought that would be killer too.

I like the sounds of the matted white pearl roof! Definitely swinging by on my way home after work to take a look at this bad boy in person.

Progress is always good. I like the satin look too.

Re: 1974 CCSB build

Maybe Mama needs to see this... not exactly satin or flat, buuuut....
Hope you get to finish it.

Told my son that a lowered CC would look great. So at some point, after I get my current project done, I think I need to find me a pristine CC...

Re: 1974 CCSB build

This story doesn't have a really happy ending, at least for me. I work at a Chevy dealership, so I towed it up here to get it looked at. The service department was pretty busy, so it got shoved on the back burner for a while. Months went by with no forward movement, so I decided to sell the truck to one of my bodymen. He will probably make it a lot nicer than I would have. So far the new doors are mounted, he tweaked the cab to make the doors fit better, and he mounted the front sheetmetal.

In all of the excitement to get it to go forwards, I rechecked almost everything. Almost. Sent the PCM out to be retuned, thinking it might not have been set up for a 4L60e. Nope. It came back running worse, so it got redone again locally. After pulling what little hair I have left out, we found the culprit- a pinched brake line on the right front. The truck was already sold, so I let it go. I have still been helping get it sorted out. Can't wait to see it back on the road, although it will be bittersweet, I'm sure.

Re: 1974 CCSB build

The only upside is that I have a '74 Jimmy I picked up. Mama actually likes it (at least as much as she is going to). The kids dig it though!

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Re: 1974 CCSB build

Did the new owner have it on Craigs list recently? I thought I saw it a day or so ago, but don't see it now.

Re: 1974 CCSB build

It has been on CL a couple of times lately. He decided to start working out of his house and doesn't have time to finish it. Good problem to have starting your own business I guess. Pretty sure it sold this time.
