Re: My Build Begins!

If You Can Wait About 3 Weeks,i Hope To Be Setting The Body On The Frame By Then!!!

Ive Seen 2 67-72 Trucks With 12" Lifts(no Body Lifts)
And Both Were Clearing 44's Without Trimming Fenderwells.
Not By Enought To Go Offroading.
I Think 23" With 52's Should Clear The Way I Drive(balls To The Walls!!!)
Ill Know Before Long

Seeing the body on the frame will be awesome! I can't wait to see those meats bolted up to the axles! You've passed cool lifted truck and gone all the way to mini-monster truck....... SWEET! Maybe you should look around for some combine drive wheels and tires. What are they? Like 3' wide, how cool would that be, you'd float across about any mud hole.

Re: My Build Begins!

i love the dunes,we used to take my big tahoe there every year..what a blast!!
i know the k5 would have to be nasty in the sand!!

hey big j,you seen any of the "trucks gone wild" dvd's

they strap 8 of those big floater tires to a truck and float it across a lake, dual 48x31x24's at each corner, thats like a six foot wide tire at each corner....i would love to be able to do that ,those tires are BIG $$$,then you need 8 of them.

Re: My Build Begins!

if i take the wheels and tires back off,the body will fit on it inside the garage and will just BARELY clear the overhead door with these rollers i made to fit undr the axles.

man i do miss my tahoe though!i dont think the k5 will be quite as easy to make a daily driver, but much more fun in the mud

Re: My Build Begins!

thanks for the words of encouragement and compliments.
actually i have access to 2 forklifts.each within 3 miles of my house!!
so if id decide to finish the body and cage before installing it on the frame it shouldnt be too bad a deal.
i am so up for a trip to the badlands.
i am heading out this week for family vacation to florida! gonna check out a few BIG trucks while im down there.lots of those guys are running 5TON
axles...huge!
but once im back ive got lots of parts to assemble, hopefully have this thing on the road by june.keeping my fingers crossed.

Did you end up narrowing your front axle? Looks like it is still full width.
