Re: Project "Edna Marie"

Stinks to hear about your new truck. A buddy of mine bought a new Cadillac ATS last Thursday and wrecked it Friday afternoon. He was and probably still is sick.

That's the pits, Brian. Glad you brought it over for show and tell right after you got it. I'm sure they'll make it good as new, though. If you need a lift somewhere, give me a call.

Re: Project "Edna Marie"

Thanks guys... The good thing is I was out of town. I say good because I drove it to the dealership 1hr after the wreck and didn't look at it. This way I can pretend it was just a bad dream. (-:

Re: Project "Edna Marie"

Well I have made a little more progress on the firewall. I have gone back and fourth about whether to box in the drip portion of the firewall and I made a decision to go for it. After see this tacked into place I am really glad I did. It make the firewall look more finished or complete for some reason. I also patched in the center dash speaker since I probably wont need that any longer.

Re: Project "Edna Marie"

I had my Porterbuilt Cherry popped. (-; I found a good deal on these and could not pass on it. My wife was mad that I bought my own fathers day gift early without telling her first. (-;

I have not made much progress lately because I have been working on my landscaping and my daughters bedroom but most of those are finishing up. Seems like there is always a home improvement project going on or a honey do list. I did pick up some great used front core support mounts. I just need to order the porterbuilt tubular crossmember so I can get them bolted up.

Re: Project "Edna Marie"

Well I havent got much done on the truck lately. I actually had a promotion opportunity at work and have been busting my butt trying to make it happen. The good news is that it did. I have now made it into the Management level at work but the bad is that I am going to be swamped with meetings and projects. I am pretty excited for the opportunity though.. I bought a few things as present to myself for getting the promotion so here are some picks. I am hoping to find some time and cool days to get the roof welded in place. I am very close to being ready to weld it in place.
Porterbuilt rear crossmember

Porterbuilt trailing arm crossmember

All together

OK, so that's why I haven't heard a peep out of you lately. Good on ya! Let me know when the stars are aligned for the roof party.

Re: Project "Edna Marie"

I found a great deal on a set of new Slosh Tubz last week. They were used for mock up and the passenger side has been modified and will need to be repaired with some fiberglass work. I am pretty excited baout them and I am not worried about fiberglassing the repair. I also picked some more Porterbuilt crossmembers from sduckworth13 (front crossmember and a trans crossmember)

Re: Project "Edna Marie"

I finally decieded to cut out the old crossmembers since i know they will have to be all seperated before going to paint or powercoating depending on which direction I go. The good thing is all the old junk is removed from the frame. I am working on getting a quote for sandblasting the frame rails but I might just spend a day with alot of grinding and stripping discs and get it to metal then primer all the pieces. I am happy I can start to visualize the final product. I now have the hard part of saving up for the front and rear porterbuilt extreme notches. In the meantime i plan to finish the cab sheetmetal work and get this frame in primer.
Here is a little mock up I did yesterday.

Re: Project "Edna Marie"

Well I have been busy.. I am trying to get some stuff done before my work picks back up. I took my frame and 12 bolt over to Eagle Stripping to be blasted.

All back nice and clean.

I fixed all the notches that the previous owners cut for headers.

All cleaned up now.

Since I had a ton of stuff in bare metal I decide to get some black epoxy primer on them. The bad is that my paint gun isnt working correctly. It was basically spraying about as much out as a airbrush. It made for a long day but I got most of painted good enough it wont rust. I do have some thin areas so once i get my paint gun fixed or a new one i will probably shoot another layer of epoxy over most of it. Its nice to see fresh black paint and no rust...

Re: Project "Edna Marie"

I have been doing a little work. However I am feeling a little discouraged as I know i have such a long way to go, work is busy, and the funds are low while my wife is finishing school. However progress is progress.

I worked on the passenger side vent.. i need to do a little patch to fix some rust through but it cleaned up nice after a quick squirt of GEM rust killer.

I also started welding up the rest of the firewall. This is going to be tons of welding and grinding but I am liking how it looks.

I also started working on the floorboards some.. I had a ton of rust through right by the headlight switch. I have yet to make a patch and get it welded back in but atleast it is cut out.

I also found a friend that needed some 69 axles that I had laying around from my 12 bolt and traded for his rear firestone air bags..

The biggest update is that the primered frame is bolted together for mock up. This porterbuilt stuff really goes together nicely.
