project: 3/4 ton dropped

i have many plans for my 79 gmc 3/4 ton camper special 454, but im 15 so the little money i get comes from a part time job on a farm. I plan on doing a 7/5 drop, using 2.5 drop spindles with 2.5 coil cut up front and rear flip out back. I wasnt sure if i should do a "build" thread or not because of slow money(so bare with me). my truck is originaly from Nevada so the cab corners and rockers are perfect. Box has very minimal rust, and the doors and fenders have some. I purchased 2 rust free OEM doors, and 2 OEM fenders(no chinese junk is going on my truck) that will be replacig mine. Truck options include: power steering, brakes, locks, windows, tilt, cruise and AC. Its been repainted a while back and needs it again. I plan on: putting it in satin black until i can afford paint, 9.5in wide steelies in back and 8.5 steelies in front, flush mount back window and one peice side windows, frame and components blasted and powdercoated, havent decided on paint or color of interior yet.

Re: project: 3/4 ton dropped

I got my front suspension apart tonight, so tommarow i should hopefully have it dropped in the front. The c-notches are coming alone ok, but i need to buy some cutting wheels for the frame. I should have it dropped by this weekend. Just one question, if i cut 1.5 coils out, with 2.5 in drop spindles, how much drop toatal will that give me? im thinking around 5in.

I see you have swaped your headlight bezel out. I did the same thing on my 79, never cared for the full front look.

I like the 79 style that connects the signal lights, you see way to many of the other style.

I think dropping a 3/4ton is more unique than just a 1/2 ton, but both look really good.

Ask away! I asked a ton of questions too before i got everything figured out! I bought mine from performanceonline.com. It costed me around $400 for the pair, about 2x as much as 1/2ton drop spindles. I would have just converted my truck to half ton, but i wanted a 3/4 ton because you dont see it as often lowered.

Re: project: 3/4 ton dropped

You can take a few leafs out in the rear if your not going to tow anything heavy with it and make it ride better, might get you another inch or two of drop if you need it.
