[QUOTE=Anyone know how much is reasonable for getting the rear bench arms powder coated? I painted them and they are already pretty scratched up.[/QUOTE]
the place use would be in the $30/ each range. plus any sand blasting that is needed to remove rust etc. usually only 1/2 hr charge when i bring a small pile of parts.

Thanks, harley. I've never had anything powder coated before, considering you've obviously done it a few times in the past, do you think the arms are good pieces to have done?

Re: B's 70 2wd Blazer

All leaks in the air lines have been officially fixed...there were 5 bad fittings and 2 bad valves, but now it holds pressure at all 4 corners and the tank with only a 2 PSI loss over night. Only thing that's left is the officially now the exhaust before it comes home. I've read that some have gotten the exhaust over the axel with a c-notch, but I just can't see how with as little room as there is between the notch and tub, so we are going out right in front of the rear wheel.

I'm a little bored at work so I've been looking at wheels...wheelsnext.com had these wheels that I could upload a pic to see what they look like. They are Lexani LSS-55's. I don't have the $$ for wheels or anything, but I love to dream.

I did however get my amps for the stereo system in last week...can't wait to get her home and start on the kick and rear panels!

Those wheels are cool but I kind of like your other wheels a little bit more.

Re: B's 70 2wd Blazer

Thanks for the feedback NTR72GMC. The current wheels will probably be on the Blazer for the next few years anyways...haha

Questions of the day for everyone...
Should I have the front chevy bowtie shaved?

I shaved everything except the handles and locks, but the area where the emblem goes is a little more involved since it's raised. Just wondering everyone's opinion on if it's worth the effort to shave it or if I'm better off running the emblem.

Tubbed, My uncle has a powder coating shop, and I can say that if you are looking for a durable coating that is the way to do it for such things like the armrest, Frame. Inner fenders, just about anything that you would want to stay protected from getting chipped up like paint. I believe if you look it up the rateing is like 1000 lb a sq inch before it is suppose to chip.

Thanks for the tip! I'll be looking for the best deal on p-coating here soon. Is there some coatings that are better than others?

keep in mind that the cheapest price is also the cheapest quality. ask me how i know. I would find a few shops in your area and look at their work and get quates from them. i tried a place that was like 2/3 the price of the company i usualy use and i could scrap the coating off with my finger nail it was so thin. plus just looked like crap. so needless to say i only used them once.
Pwder is great for suspension parts, brake parts, brakets etc. it is good for up to 400 degrees and most chemicals like brake fluid, gas and solvents wont hurt it.

Re: B's 70 2wd Blazer

Unfortunately not...hoping to get a coat of primer on it this weekend for some additional blocking, but schedules have been conflicting pretty bad with the painter and the booth. However, I did just move this weekend and now have a 2 car garage for the Blazer. I didn't move very far, so I got to drive her for a quick trip down the street to her new room. Here's a couple pics I took yesterday after setting up the garage.

Re: B's 70 2wd Blazer

Here's what the blazer is going to be sharing it's room with...a 63 Nova SS I just picked up to be my daily driver once it's a little more road worthy. Once I get her home and start tearing into it, I'll post some pics in the alternate tinkering board.

Re: B's 70 2wd Blazer

Finally getting closer! Got her final prime all blocked and most of it is ready to shoot some actual color on it. Got the booth available for paint on the 17th so everything needs to be ready b then.

Here's some pics ...

Also, I just saw the templates my friend is making for my kick panel speakers. He's incorporating the bevels from the stock door panels into the design in hopes they appear semi-stock looking. Once he get's the glass work started I'll post pics of that too.

Re: B's 70 2wd Blazer

After a lot of late nights and bloody fingers, we finally sprayed color!!! The 2 pics are it fresh out of the booth the next morning. Still have to line everything up and hopefully not chip anything. I'm hustling to make it to the Goodguy's show in Pleasanton this coming Saturday...the to-do list is long so I'm going to get the must haves done 1st. I'd love to have it cut & buffed before the show as well, but I don't know if that's going to be possible.

The color has a lot of flake in it, but didn't come out as dark as I thought it would. My painter said we should have used a black sealer instead of the grey which was pretty light in color. I still like it a lot, but doesn't exactly look like the color I had imagined/saw.
