Re: 71 Chev SWB

My new fuel fittings came in. I installed them and threw the old ones in the trash. The fittings fit great and cannot come off unless the c-clip is unscrewed. I used thread lock so that shouldn't be an issue. I would recommend that everyone use these fittings instead of the old style any where they use the slip on fuel fittings. It might save your ride from going up in smoke.

any pics of the ac vents install on the dash? I dont know if its easier to cut in the vents in to a non ac cab or switch the whole cab to an ac cab.

The truck was already dropped when I bought it. From what I can tell, the front springs appear to have been cut and there is a 2" spacer in the rear. The tire size is P275 60R15.

I cut the holes in my dash to install the vents and it wasn't too bad. My A/C came with templates and I used a sawzall and holesaw. I just had to go real slow on the side vents due to the curve in the dash. It seems that it would be easier to cut the holes than to change the cab. If you change the cab, then you have the VIN change issue to deal with.

Re: 71 Chev SWB

Really just driving it and enjoying it. Been to several car club events/shows. I did have a Viper alarm installed with remote start and changed the stereo out and installed one with a bluetooth for a hands free phone. Since it is my daily driver, I installed an aluminumn tool box in the bed for storage and I am thinking about installing a fuel cell inside the tool box to eliminate the gas smell in the cab. I can't find any leaks but I can smell some gas fumes and it's not good for long trips. Haven't had any problems so far and have about 11,000 miles in it now.

Since my last post, I did remove the fuel tank from the cab and installed a 19 gallon RCI fuel cell with a 220 ML walbro in tank pump set-up from Tanks Inc. This eliminated all fuel problems I had with the factory tank. I haven't made any other changes. I just drive it to car shows and events. Its not my daily driver now since I bought a 2015 High Country Chevy PU. I have driven it almost 30,000 miles since this swap and have had no problems. I drove 1200 miles in one weekend to go to the Goodguys car show in Ft. Worth last year. I'm currently building a 71 Chevelle for my wife with a 5.7 LS swap so we can go to shows together. When I finish the Chevelle, I have plans to build a 72 Chevy 1 ton wrecker on a 1991 GMC Frame that has a 17 foot roll back wrecker bed. That truck will have a 24 valve Cummins.

Re: 71 Chev SWB

Small update, I installed a set of tires and wheels. The truck is still running great. I have been on many long trips and have not had any problems. I just bought a set of one piece windows from Brothers but haven't had time to install them yet.

Re: 71 Chev SWB

Those wheels and tires look great on your truck and I think are the perfect proportion for the wheel wells and amount it's lowered. BTW, is that rabbit in your truck or on the lawn?
