2 install questions for you experts

bought stereo for 72c20. it is a cheap deck, but has the option of using cd/usb/sd card, etc. have two questions before the install.
1. where in the fuse block to mount the power, the wire that is supposed to go to ignition.
2. where to hook the wire that goes to the dimmer switch.

never put in a stereo from scratch, so any help would be great. thank you very much

The fuses should be labeled. The constant can be taken from the cig lighter, or acc. wire in the column, and the dimmer wiring should be taken form the power to the gauge bezel wiring.

I'm posting the site that my buddies use to grab wiring diagrams and such form tomorrow, so I should be able to provide more help then.

Yeah, I wasn't able to run to the shop like I had hoped. I'll get on that.

Re: 2 install questions for you experts

Stereo is working, although i'm still having issues w/my fuse block, sometimes I loose power to certain things. ie. I flip on the switch for the fan and the stereo shuts off! It's corroded, I cleaned it up w/a dremel and wire brush, but it needs to be replaced, just don't have the means right now. So, i have speakers in the doors, the holes were already there, sound ok. I have 2 6x9's to install also, but not sure where to put them. I just installed some buckets from a 98 chevy, so I was going to build a box/console between them, but i'm not sure if i like them yet. i'm a little too close to the steering wheel and feel like I'm sitting too high. So, if I put the bench back in, what are my options? Making kik panels? Any other ideas out there? Also, my passenger side door seems to be taking in a lot of water when it rains, it puddles up from the bottom and gets onto the floor. I've replaced the anti rattle strips, where could all that water be coming from ?

Sorry I never got that link up. I haven't been by the shop yet. I thought I would have been by there by now...

The water is inside the door? If so, might be worn out sweeps. Also, the seal on the mirror could be bad (if there is a seal)

Re: 2 install questions for you experts

generally the ignition turn on is exactly just that, it turns on your stereo when the accessories are turned on by 1/2 turning the ignition switch. You can run the actual power wire directly to the battery using a 12-14 gauge power wire.

Why do you need to install a dimmer switch?
