what seats did you put in your 67-72 Chevy truck ?

I was wondering if there is a list somewhere that has a bunch of seat dimensions or something so I can figure out what kind of seats I should be looking for. I'm looking to replace the bench seat in my 71 C10 and I'm always worried that the ones I find won't work and I'll be out of some cash. I'm looking at some now from a 2005 Silverado... they're bucket seats with a center console.... does anyone have any idea if these would work or not ? Or does anyone have any good advise on what will work ? If you have any seats in your 67-72 Chevy truck, please post on here what yours came out of and post pics too if you would. Thanks in advance for your replies.

I used the bench from a late 80's chevy truck. Yardsale find for $30. The frame bolts together on these,I loosened it and it spread apart enough to bolt in the front holes, just had to redrill a couple of holes. EASY!

Re: what seats did you put in your 67-72 Chevy truck ?

I installed a pair of "Lite-Glow" racing seats and a custom center console in my '69 chevy. I just used rails to mount everything to, used the stock bench seat holes in the floor to secure them to the cab, and drilled some new holes in the angle iron I made for the seats and console. Looks great and works perfectly!

I'll have to snap a few pics of em in my '69 & post em.

Not at the point of seat installation, but I have a '98 Tahoe 2nd-row seat waiting in the wings. Even though it is tan leather, I'm gonna use some leather-specific colorant to change it to black, with red "inserts", red with black inserts.

I used seats out of a 98 dodge ram. Made a perimeter frame used 67 front seat brackets and made my own rear brackets. Total cost $60. Low enough backs and small headrest can't bee seen from behind w small back glass. One of the best mods I've done!

@ Tmwoodall No, your right! It is tight. I use it as my motivation to loose some weight...

These are from a Pathfinder. 6 way power and heated leather. I did have to make my own brackets.

I like those a lot. Similiar to what I bought form JCWhitney, except mine are all manual and have this funky middle seat/console.

I have yet to install mine, they are patiently sitting in a closet waiting to be installed. When I bought mine 8 years ago, they cost a good bit less and were slightly different shaped. From sitting in them inside in the floor they are pretty comfy for a larger guy at 220 6' 1"

Re: what seats did you put in your 67-72 Chevy truck ?

Right now i have seats from a 99 Sierra, but i might be exchanging those for seats from a 2004 Dodge Ram. The Ram has a fold down middle console which might be nice to bring one of the kids along me and my wife somewhere or just use as a storage compartment.

I can say that it wouldn't matter either way, you won't gain any room by doing this. The seat location is still going to be limited by the panel below the back glass.

I guess if your cut the seat back in half you could fit it under there so it would be back a few inches. But it would probably look really strange unless you spent a lot of time doing a custom job or something.

Hey Black and Blue, I was moving the tank either way, but like Sweirker said you don't gain any room, I put a cargo/speaker box I made to fill the space instead though.

Mine are out of a 88 Chevy Trruck split bench 60/40. You have to modify the brackets a bit, in my case it did not matter because I wanted them lower and all the way back.

gkesseru, I love the pathfinder seats in your truck with the console, that looks great. I think I'm leaning toward the 40/20/40 with a fold down console and would prefer the seatbelts to be built into the seats as well (I don't mind bracing from underneath). Anyone know what all I can find these in ? I wish I was as far along as some of you guys are.... everything looks great, keep the pics coming.

I think they started in 1999 I know my 2000 GMC has the shoulder belts built in. That is the main reason I changed was to get the shoulder belts. I have since changed my center console to one out of a 2005 so I could have the cup holder and the third seat. Also I think it is 99 to 03 with the fold down console tend to break the hinge, there is a write up on the 99 and up forum. Mine are also power. The only thing I had to do was shim the back up a little so the seat would go all the way back.

Anyone else have more to add to this? I'd love to see some more as I keep contemplating using what I have or searching for a low back bucket/split bench.
