Re: The 49' is home !

Been trying to get brakes enough to feel comfortable driving around the yard.
(kind of hilly here)
Turns out the master is a done deal so back to using the e-brake.
So what do you do when the brake repair didn't work ?
Take off both rear fenders of course.
Rusty but it is 60 + y.o. ground down some rust and added some rust preventative paint just to slow things down till it can get done right.

If you're working on it at all you're making more progress than I am!

Re: The 49' is home !

looks great from my view over over the fence! did you make your m/c bracket yet? i really like these panels and the fact it doesn't have honda civic buckets and does have the stock ones rocks in my opinion. when i get my new project going a 56' panel i just got home i'll have to cruise by for a photo op with it.

Just doing (trying) to do the minimum I can afford (time and money) sadly
I am testing the waters about selling it. Had (have) a few bites on it.
It will stay unless I get what I think its worth, which may be more than everyone else
So still in the thinking stage on a master bracket. And Honda buckets LOL
Not my thing !
Hey 55 swing by, might need to hurry for that photo op?

Re: The 49' is home !

Funny I just got around to putting on my new plates today the last day of September. They expire tomorrow.
Never got any use out of those tabs at least I went in with the right frame of mind!

Well its a good thing you still have it to put plates on! There is nothing wrong with a project taking a while.

Re: The 49' is NOT home !

We'll funny thing I am not sad. I sold the panel today. Variety of reasons.
Money being lower on the list. I had been feeling bad about having it and not being able to devote time and money to it.
I have many projects that all are in better shape and really I only have so much time. So its a relief to have a few extra bucks and lots of time for my other projects.
Thanks to everybody with kind words, support, labor(Sillyoldman) and truck parts(Steve@oldsub.com,nickp51chevy,CHIZZLER).

Just a little over a year ago, it was in the same spot coming instead of going.

Re: The 49' is home !

I saw it on C/L. I was surprised that you had it listed, but it is understandable that you sold it. It's just too bad that you weren't able to get it on the road. But hey; it was fun while it lasted, right?!

PS
BTW if I had the space and money I would have snagged that thing from you.

Hated to see it go. Kinda weird that you sold something big & orange and I bought something big & orange this weekend. Wanna buy a Buick?

That dreaded page 4 . I knew I should be working on clearing a path for my Cutlass not putting things in front of it.
When the time is right and I'm done (or close to) with my 3 other projects I'll be looking for another one but probably a Burb. Who knows?

Love your user name! My 2nd car was the "swamp rat" stolen from Big Daddy
of course.

Ya know i totally forgot about Big Daddy when i decided to use it for a handle, When i came up with it my poor truck was covered with that green algie like stuff that grows in our area so to me it looked like a swamp rat or swamp monster, but Swamp rat won out cause it was easyer to pronunce.

I used to have a 45 chevy truck that i eventually liquidated and still regret, if i ever get that shop i'll be thinking about trying to find another. Well i allready found one (42-46) but donno if its for sale.

BTW, I an totally envious of your shop, i need one bad, my canvas car covers take a beating every winter with the wind we get, like today and the other night.
