It's hard to find a good mount. I know your pain.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

I have been assembling my chassis on my c10. Got stuck late last night as I need a ball joint press. Now waiting for church to start and will get a press on the way home and spend the rest of the day working on the truck.

So I'm not the only one that sets out to do what "appears" to be a simple task that takes untold hours on end to accomplish?

I feel your pain! There are times I peek out from my truck, just to make sure no neighbors are outside to hear the animated words coming from my driveway. I normally don't curse or use those types of words, but there are days when working on my truck, that it makes me lose my religion a little!

Took over a month to seal the deal, but I finally got buckets....Buddy!

Plan to restore entire frame with powder coat, cushions, blue hounds tooth covers.

I also picked up a 68' tach cluster and got some experience pulling the front/rear windows off the donor truck to save the factory F/R SS window trim before the factory 396, wood bed, 68' CST long bed goes to the crusher.

Don't cry, It was a salted Iowa truck that was rusted UP from the bottom...too far gone.

Installed trailer hitch and mounted bumper. Had to fab frame extensions to get the standard brackets to fit. Took all afternoon but it's done.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Installed new wheel bearings in the rear end and put new wheels cylinders on. Installed the rear hub and tired to bleed the brakes. Nothing would come out. Checked at the master cylinder and it comes out there. Checked at the end of the rear hard line where it connects to the rubber line and it comes out there. Does not come out of the rubber hose so it seems like I will be ordering on of those in the morning. This trucks brakes have been the biggest pain in the rear ever. Took the hubs off to replace the wheel cylinders and all the bearings were junk. Have had to order the bearings and they were all supposed to be here sat. On box just had the race and one had some random bearing. So had to reorder the bearings and the parts store can't get them for 3 days.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Since Sunday:

Received my NOS tail bezels and couldn't be happier.

Received the assembly book. Decent reference I guess.

Missed out bidding on an NOS lens for about $30. Another was posted the same day, buy it now, and even the box is in nice shape. Paid $23........SCORE! What are the odds of that? I'm still searching for the LH.

Built a frame to set my bed on.

Attempting to score the upper and lower moldings, NOS, still in the packages. Not cheap. Pending.

Only need about 16 more parts for the exterior. Ha!

I don't know.........Starting to think this project will reach 20K. Need a steering box and cab mounts too, and I won't be doing the work. I won't be doing the body and paint either. I'm guessing B/P will run 13K, and that's with a guy doing the body out of his garage.

It is hard to believe that NOS stuff is still around. Super find!

This year I found a pair of NOS front fenders for my 1967 C50. They were stored in a body shop that worked on Ohio County trucks and buses.

Last year I found a pair of NOS front fenders for my 1972 Chevy Vega. They were found in a closed Chevy Dealer back in a storage shed.

Congrats on your find. What are the odds?

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

My hopes are NOS for all the exterior parts. Fan shroud too, if I can find one. Other than that and maybe a window wash bottle, everything behind the doors is in great shape. Needs new whether strip though. Not sure what I'm going to do for that.

My buddy had a Vega, I believe it was a 72 as well. He dropped a 327 or 350 in it. Very cool ride until hit 65 mph. Something wasn't right in the suspension. Beautiful car. BRIGHT yellow, with a Tweety Bird mounted on the grill.

Tweety Bird on the grill (nice touch!)
I have a 4.3 Vortec with a WC 5 speed with S10 disk rear.

I wanted air conditioning so the V6 was easier.

Still debating on the color, Ill get back to it when my C50 is done.

Nice! I like those wheels too. My first thought is light blue. Normally I don't like blue, but on the old stuff it's super nice.

Can't wait to see that 50. Just looked. It already looks great. Talk about rare.

A bunch of parts just jumped into my Tahoe this morning. I don't know how that happened. All I wanted was some steel wheels.

Took me more time than the average man to figure out the puzzle.

Nice stash.

Flipped it.

I did this stuff over the weekend but my WiFi was down so I couldn't post. I started the build on my 350 it's bored .040 over and has aluminum pro comp heads. Also I swapped out the buckets for a 06 or so tahoe center seat so I can strap in my son's car seat. Now he won't miss out on any cruisin.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Tore down my rear end and found Im gonna need new ring and pinion gears. Had some horrible pitting on about 10 of the ring teeth. I assume it must be from sitting so long maybe because the rest of the teeth and the pinion looked real nice.

So I just pushed the button on a new set of Richmond Gears, a Eaton Torque Control Posi unit and a Wilwood rear disk conversion kit from Summit Racing.

So now we sit and wait for the mail man.
