Question Wiring issues

Good Evening,

Ive been building a 72 K20 for the past few months from the ground up. My issue I'm running into is that the ignition works but i have zero lights inside and out. no blinkers, headlights, not even brake lights. I did rewire the truck using a Painless wiring kit following the instructions to the T. Anyone have issues with the kits or have an idea what could be causing these issues? Any help is very appreciated.

Re: Wiring issues

Start here!
Looks like you don't have power to the acc side of your fuse block. Although I have never heard of painless having issues, I know some aftermarket fuse blocks have poor soldering on the buss feeds on the back too. But I would think I would eliminate all other possible things before I thought about that. One other thing. Put a good ground from engine to cab...You would be surprised....my truck won't do anything if it's off...

Re: Wiring issues

I believe painless uses the same color coding as EZ wire....

Re: Wiring issues

I made a couple 2 gauge ground straps with one going from block to frame and the other going from the cab to the frame which now the headlights and wipers work but i still have zero turn signals and brake lights. If i push the hazard button on the column I hear the flasher clicking but if i try the turn signals i get nothing, any thoughts on this?

Re: Wiring issues

Flashers, for turns use a separate flasher, your not using let are You? If so you may need to reverse the polarity of the flasher. As far as brake lights I would double check the switch. I think there is a white and orange wire if I'm not mistaken make sure both are routed correct. If that all fails, it could be the turn signal switch since that all meshes together

Re: Wiring issues

You may need a dedicated ground from bed to frame as well since the lights ground to the bed. Just thinking about it.....if I'm not mistaken the orange wire on the brakes is 12 hot always into switch then the white goes out to the tails and they ground to the bed. If they are not working I suspect a ground issue or lack of. The blinkers will also need a ground or you get no flash no click. Strangely enough the hazards because they are linked together usually find a ground some how or another, I suspect from bleating back through the circuit. That's why it clicks but no flash. I know it does not sound feesable but I have seen it happen and scratched my head wondering how
