I've never seen so many fireworks in my life.

Re: Hope everyone had a safe and wonderful 4th of July

I have not left home all weekend and enjoyed every minute of it . Everyone around me had fireworks , sounded like WW3 going on out there . Got the bedwood done in my stepper today with help from a friend that had done it before . Got my yard mowed yesterday , cleaned house this morning , all is well in my small world . Back to work in the morning , hope all is well with everyone else in Truck Land .

No fireworks show on the lake this year. (Cancelled due to the COVID).

But a guy down the road must have spent a fortune because he was shooting off some crazy cool stuff. It was very pretty and nice to see. But it couldn't have been cheap to do.

We just had some friends over and my wife made her pork chili burritos. And I made some of my famous salsa and guacamole to go with them. And plenty of beer. Good stuff. Everyone had a good time.

Fireworks here were canceled but we did go to a cruise-in that was about 30 miles away. it was 94 degrees but we got to set in the shade so it was bearable. The wife and I sat away from everyone else and didn't do much walking around. The attendance was about half what it normally is and bout 75 cars showed up. It was a nice 4th and great to just get out.

Everything shut down here too, but damn, we didn't see many, but heard them, for hours. I saw on the news there was a 110% increase in fireworks sales nationwide compared to last year. It was nice to finally have a few days off.

We spent the 4th in Salem Ma. near Pickering Warf. Walking around that old historic town with fireworks going off had me thinking what it must have sounded like during the Revolution. Quite a show put on by the locals. The city fireworks were canceled.

I don't even think Baltimore put on fireworks. They sure did back in the War of 1812!

I usually go to The Barbara Fritchey Classic here in Frederick, MD. It is the longest continuously running motorcycle race in America, it's AMA flat track. This would have been the 99th running of the race this year. And it's still held on the 4th of July no matter what day of the week it is. Not the contrived holiday on a day to benefit those with paid holidays. I think it missed two years during WWII. We back the truck up to the second turn and set-up camp for the day. Grille lunch and mix it up with all the other spectators. Cancelled

Re: Hope everyone had a safe and wonderful 4th of July

We got two loads of new hay delivered (260 bales altogether) and stacked in the barn. Otherwise it was just a normal day out on our place. We're too busy getting ready for a trip to celebrate.

The neighbors set off a bunch of fireworks about the time we went to bed. Then a thunderstorm rolled in! At one point one of their bombs went off at the same time as a loud thunderclap. About ten seconds later a downpour started and that was the end of the fireworks

Hot weekend for sure. Random thunderstorms rolled in and out. Someone captured a video of a lightening strike hitting a fireworks setup. At the moment the strike hit it ignited some fireworks. It didn't burn it all down but it was an awesome sight.
Record sales I hear. Over 110% above usuall. I know we had more around here. I told the wife the only thing missing is the Boston Pops playing during the evening. Different times now.

Oh, yeah ... and there was a little lightning strike fire in the late afternoon. A neighbor drove by and yelled "Fire!" at me and sure enough there was a puff of smoke up the road about 1/2 mile. But I was in the middle of unloading hay and I am retired/reserve now so I figured somebody else could handle it since it had just rained anyway. They later said it was one tree burning. I don't know if it had just started or if it was from the previous evening storm.
