Re: Auto transport and loading a chassis
I rented a U-Haul dolly to haul the '71 chassis with stock wheels & tire size. No problem. I've only seen width issues with 4wds with wide wheels and tires. More recently, my son's CUCV Blazer got dollied out of here on a U-Haul dolly. It was too wide but did squeeze on there. That had the 8" wheels and 32/11.50 rubber. I think they mainly had a problem with the webbing fitting over the bigger tires

Re: Auto transport and loading a chassis
Always good to get the info first. It doesn't expire

Re: Auto transport and loading a chassis
Exactly, that and they haven't delivered all the shackles. Been thinking about it though, tempted to buy some tire skates, so I can ride them all the way to the shop Kidding, but one way or another I have to turn this around. Bonus is the curb is tall and rounded, and the street is a big circle. I can park the tow dolly against the curb if I need to, though I fully expect the come-along to be nice and straight from the hitch....HA!...Yeah right, we'll see, I did buy one with three hooks.
I didn't want to lose this video so I swept it under this post: posthttps://youtu.be/ODFcebyxZxo. Nice demonstration overall and helpful, though I was taught never secure a load to an end link. Seems something isn't right when he's releasing the tension, mine you just flip a spring, engage the other direction and it's a notch down from there. Mine is a simple $30 no brand unit, but seems to work real well.

Re: Auto transport and loading a chassis
Well after all that it's off. The exhaust guy misunderstood the first time around, he won't install an exhaust system until everything is done rear bumper too. So looks like next year, I'll skip the tow dolly and spend $600ish to tow for exhaust followed by its maiden start elsewhere. Thanks for the help.
He's working on a 69 Blazer, the guy dumped 120K into it. Sounds like a mod, but apparently it's original less drive-train ("502") and some chassis.

Re: Auto transport and loading a chassis
I wondered. I've been told that an exhaust guy will want the body on. I guess if you as familiar with these trucks as we get it wouldn't matter, except finishing out the tailpipes. I figured it would be nice to be able to work from all angles, but I guess they are used to their work being all underneath the vehicle. Oh well, you don't need exhaust till you get the truck together anyway. I still enjoyed the conversation
