RIP Charlie Daniels

I’m sure gonna miss him. Such an amazing musician, person, and true inspiration, you will be sorely missed. Keep playin that fiddle made of gold for the angels in heaven, and tell Your old buddy Ronnie VanZant we miss him dearly too!

His Ranch is several miles from me.
This Man was an Icon of mine.
His House was a Few more miles Away maybe 30 something?
I have always (sang) along to his songs

Re: RIP Charlie Daniels

One of the best concerts I have ever been to...My unit had just returned from Iraq in 2003. Charlie Daniels had a concert date in Oklahoma City and heard that we were returning to Ft. Sill. He came down and put on a free concert for the soldiers and families. A true patriot.

Re: RIP Charlie Daniels

R.I.P. Uneasy Rider, you will be missed. Charlie could right a song, sing it, and play it like no one else. I've seen him live maybe more than any other musician or band.

I remember when he broke an arm, or both, in an accident with a power post hole digger. He was one of us as much as he was a star.

This was my introduction to Charlie Daniels:

Re: RIP Charlie Daniels

I never went to his shows or met the man but I believe he was the basic down to earth good guy he seems to be in his music. There's a lot of truth in his song writing.
I think his Simple Man should be played daily across this land until his message sinks into so many of the young minds that have gone down the wrong path. I believe basic compassion and respect for each other has slipped from home teachings. Bibles are stuffed away on a shelf. We see the result of which is played out daily on national tv.
Charlie was no country hick. He was a very wise man. RIP CD

Ask and thou shall receive:

I just found out my old friend, Downs, who is a fiddler had met and knew Charlie. He first met him when he played for Charlie McCoy who opened for one of Charlie's Christmas specials. Both Charlies had been friends since they played sessions for Bob Dylan's Nashville Skyline album. Downs last saw Charlie when he played with Ryan Hinkle when they did a show with Charlie a few years ago. Dang, I knew downs before he taught himself to play fiddle and we were listening to Charlie Daniels for the first time.

That's Downs on the left end
