Anyone else have 73-79 suburbans?

I know I'm not the only one hooked on these old beauties! I like all square bodies but my wife says I just look better in round headlights. Hey... whatever works, right? If I had the money I'd buy em all and stack em up!

What say we band together here?

How about we start with posting pix of what we got and or got going on!

I have 2 I need to figure out what to do with.

This is the only forum I've ever subscribed to, so it's also time for me to practice how things work around here. I'm almost embarrassed to ask (before I give it a go) one of my teenager for help but I probably will.

If anyone has any interest in posting their pix and all, that would be awesome and a good motivator for us all to get after it.

The yellow one is a legit 3/4 ton, 400sb, TH400 trans, 203 case.

The red one is a c10 someone converted to 3/4 ton axles, 305sb, sm465 manny tranny, 203 case.

My money is funny so I don't know where to start. Old Yella through a rod and the Red One's tranny is barely hanging on.

Let's go! Get some!

Re: Anyone else have 73-79 suburbans?

Well, special-K... about the only thing I know at this present time is that it comes after 1979?

Did 1980 suburbans come with round headlights?

I found this about 80s headlights but it seem to be about squared headlights only. Maybe I missed something... I'll keep researching.

https://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/...rly%20uncommon

I'm going to start posting pictures as soon as I get that figured out. I had one of my teenagers post some for me once, but I want to figure it out for myself. So, hold on, I'll get with it soon here too.

If anyone that visits here has any suburbans with round headlights I would really like to see some pictures and hear about where you're at, what you've done, and or where you're going. Come on, give it a rip!

Help me out here folks...I'm just doing this to keep my wife happy.

Y'all understand, of course.

Re: Anyone else have 73-79 suburbans?

Only burb i ever had was like an 86 or 87 it was a retired fire vehicle and I never had a use for it so I sold it to a guy who wanted it. Im partial to pickup trucks, never wanted a large wagon but they are cool in their own right just not my thing

Yeah, and vice versa Old Crusty. Oh... I mean old rusty. LOL!!!

Just messing with ya. I was hoping to hear from some burb owners not from anyone who don't care much for them. You probably don't care much for round headlights either...so what? Don't worry, I still respect you. Just saying man!

I love me them burban babies! Maybe I'm subscribed to the wrong forum?

If anyone doesn't have a sense of humor or thinks I'm out of line with mine, just say so and I'll move on.

I had a 77 all original never touched other than consumables. Only thing I did to the truck was the headliner . Underside as clean as the top

Re: Anyone else have 73-79 suburbans?

I do not currently have a 73-80 Suburban, my current one is a 1997 K2500. I myself like the 73-80 square bodies and years ago had a 1979 'Burb (and an 1988, 1990, 1992 & 1996), keeping my eye out for a K20 in those years but not looking hard as I already have a 1978 C20 Camper Special PU, 1978 K2500 4WD and a 1979 C3500 Dooly Camper Special - just do not have the room to add another!

I know what you mean about not having the room to add another. I am going to stick with the 73-79 suburbans for that reason. I'm looking at getting a couple more suburbans. I just can decide automatic or manny tranny. I did however just get my hands on an 85 Blazer that's for my son though. We also have an 81 GMC K35 with a plow on it. Going to have fun with the my boys and girls while I still can. We have all decided to stick with 4x4 carburetor GM mobiles while it's still legal anyway. There's plenty of logging roads to roam around here.
