2004 Silverado seats in my 71

Well I finally got my seats in, 2004 Silverado seats and console. The old bench seat wasn't comfortable on long rides.

Now I just need a tilt column and a new steering wheel. Man just when you think youre done, you find out that you want to add something else. Its never ending.

Look a lot more comfortable. I will take that bench. Let me know when you can drive to Georgia and drop it off

Re: 2004 Silverado seats in my 71

I have seats from a '02 Tahoe with manual lumbar support. With the lumbar "turned all the way down" it still feels like there is a log behind me. Never felt that in my suburban or pickup that had power lumbar.

Re: 2004 Silverado seats in my 71

I had the same seats except in cloth in my '67.....loved 'em! However, the backs are a bit thicker than the stock bench seat. To avoid having to scrounge up a decent tilt column- I just did the column mod that moves the steering wheel closer to the dash by a couple inches. It made all the difference- even with my 250lb. fat a$$, I could get in and out just fine.

The seat's look great! Is the steering wheel that close to the drivers seat or is it the picture angle? Did you hook up all the he electrics on them? I like my heated seat in the Tahoe wish my 71 had it!.

After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: 2004 Silverado seats in my 71

I used 3/8 bolts with 1/2" washers on the bottom. That's the angle of the pic. The seat is not that close to the steering wheel. I only hooked up the power to the seats, I don't need heated seats in Houston.

That's good! Yea if in Houston I guess not. Do you have enough room for the seat to lay back at all? They look great and they look good and confy to!

Re: 2004 Silverado seats in my 71

The seats look great in your truck. As soon as I get the gas tank out of the cab which means I have to get my ECE rear mounted gas tank installed which means I need to remove the box and if I do that i might as well redo the wood box floor and on it goes..... I have the same ones ready to go in my 72only they are the cloth ones with power both sides.

In doing some research on installing these seats its been pointed out that the the truck floor should be reinforced. If the floor isn't reinforced the seats could rip out of the floor in an accident. I do believe there have been threads on here showing how some members have reinforced the floor for the seats.

Yes, I intalled mine with the in-cab tank in place. The seat backs hit the kick-out under the rear window long before they would make contact with the gas tank.

Just so I understand... the bolt holes didn't line up with the existing mounting holes, so you drilled new holes in the floor and backed them up with large washers?

Those do look great, and look a lot more comfortable!
