I always heard that Ed "Big Daddy" Roth and Don " Big Daddy' Garlits never had a problem with each other using the same name.

You probably wouldn't see that today. Somebody would sue somebody.

There have been a lot of "big daddys" in the world over the years but today there are lawyers ready and waiting to file copyright infringement suits for anything they can make a dollar on. :/

Re: Picture Thread:Golden Era Customs

I was moving my goods from Photobucket and discovered a a whole folder of customs with pictures I have had from back when I first came to this site. So no shortage of pictures for a while.

I'll start off with the ultimate no BS shut up yes it is the finest one ever!! Well, I like it anyway.
EDIT: I guess I hit edit instead of "Quote". Scroll down for pictures
Looking again. That car was built for ME! If I ever build a custom I'm going yo get totally creative and do an exact copy, Not being creative? I beg to differ. I don't know how it was done, but all the ideas for this car were sucked right out of my head

As far as no shortage for a while goes, how do I transfer ALL PICTURES AT ONCE from GFYbucket? I'm wanting to start a new storage site, any suggestions? Google Photos maybe?

Any help appreciated. I came here to show these custom cars that are now pickups. I guess you can build a pickup that is not a truck, like the El Camino. But if you want to call it a truck because that's what a pickup is, that's fine with me. Fact is, they're purdy dang kewl customs for an absolute big to small truck lover and user like me. For a guy like me, El Caminos and short beds are my car. I don't hate cars, love them. Had some really cool ones, but I think I'm done with them, unless it gets 40 mpg

Looks like it. But they did it to resemble the hard top. That Chevy grille looks good in there...haha. A popular swap used where it came from but sure is different in a clean and subtle way. There are body mods that are so subdued it takes looking for a while.

Better add another

Great Pics ! Thanks. I was always a stock guy and will always appreciate a well preserved ride. But my later years are teaching me to be more flexible. Even got a mild 84 Sierra Classic that I an gonna modify a bit more...

Re: Picture Thread:Golden Era Customs

I like to mix it up from time to time. Never have been big on customs for myself, but like looking at them. I always liked the hot rods and dragsters back in the day more than the customs. And didn't like the crazy stuff much. I guess I was a conservative little punk. I started thinking a mild custom would be cool once I started looking back at that time 25-39 years ago. I had a '63 Riviera and kept that stock because those I feel were factory customs. I got that for my wife (girlfriend at the time/X now) and used to call it Baby Baby Baby Blue. I'd like a sled like that Silver Chevy for road trips

Making and "El Camino" out of a car is risky. It's seldom done right, but I love them when done right. These are neat examples.

I didn't mean to say that 39/40 ford roadster pickup was an El Camino.

Ranchero roadster? I really like that one. Could just be a pickup modified

This car is a local one I've been seeing at shows for many years. He drives it!

Talk about history. This is a location not so far from my place, 20 or more miles away. Probably once a nasty pollution pit in it's day. Never the less, pretty cool thing to learn about

It was a nasty pollution pit to start with, since chromium is a poison. Thus, why it had areas called "barrens".

True, but I meant worse from disturbing and spreading it all around, allowing it to get into streams, dust, etc. Since it was first discovered just a few years prior to it's discovery in the US, they probably found out the hard way that it was poison at all. Who cares? All that matters is we got da Krowm man
