Body panel differences between 67 and 68-72

I understand that the 67 bedsides have different mounting holes, what about the front fenders on a 67, besides not having side markers are the mounting holes the same? In other words can I run them on my 70 c10 with the original 70 hood? I'd like to run 67 fenders and bedsides.

Re: Body panel differences between 67 and 68-72

You would need a whole front clip to run 67 fenders, even the rad core support, even head light change, ( everything from the fire wall forward needs to be changed ) to run 67/68 on a 69-72

Re: Body panel differences between 67 and 68-72

67/68 fenders and hood are longer than 69-72. 67/68 grille is sheet metal that integrates with the fenders and hood. 67/68 headlights sit wider than 69-72, so core support is different from 69-72.

'67 bedsides have different mounting holes?

Re: Body panel differences between 67 and 68-72

1967 bed sides mounting holes are Exactly the same as 1968-72 bed side mounting holes. The only difference between 1967 & 1968-72 is there are No side marker light openings on the 1967 bed sides, otherwise it is exactly the same.
In regards to the front clip everyone's correct you will need to replace the entire front clip to use 67 front fenders and have them just bolt up without modifications required. Now you could modify the leading edge of the front fender on the 1967 fenders so that the 69-70 grille will fit over the front edge of the 67 fenders but it would be far easier just to cut out the opening for side marker lights on your 69-72 front fenders and then weld the opening shut to delete the side markers. Far easier than trying to modifying the leading edge of the 67 fender or grafting the leading edge of a 69-72 fender onto a 1967 fender to make it work in order to get the 69-70 grille to fit over it like it does on the 69-72 Chevy.

Yeah, I'll just be filling in the side marker openings.

Some good information on this thread. One thing I didn't see mentioned is that GMC's used the same fenders from 68-72.

Body mount rubber supports for 67-68 are different than the 69-72 for the front clip.

And the same core support as well for those years.

What fenders did 67 GMC's use??? I guess you are considering the 67's because of the lack of clearance lights...

Re: Body panel differences between 67 and 68-72

'67 GMC used the same as Chevy '67s, except for fender emblem holes.

'68-'72 GMC used the same as Chevy '68s, except for fender emblem holes.

'69-'72 Chevy fenders are Chevy-only.

GMC followed the same shorter hood design change as Chevy in '69. The Chevy fenders changed to allow the grille surround to sit "into" the fenders. The 3pc GMC grille surround changed to sit "over" the fenders and fill back to the hood over the grille.
