Door seals help with my '59, please?

Hello all,
I ordered these new door seals from Summit Racing, since I was making a big order for a bunch of other stuff. I hadn't put much thought into them, until looking at what us currently on my truck. The seals are on the doors, and it's not glaringly obvious how they are to attach. I've read about some gluing on and some having clips. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks much,
Nik

Seals I purchased:

Like, so much of a pain in the butt that it's worth buying a new set? If the glue on ones are absolutely something to avoid, I will. If not, what kind of adhesive do guys use? I would have preferred to order from somewhere else, with the lack of information provided. My current seals must be glue on, as I dont have all of the holes in my door for those screw in seals, and honestly would prefer to not drill a ton of holes in my door. Thank you for your reply!

Re: Door seals help with my '59, please?

i must agree with slammed 57----- glue on seals are 'ok' but really the clip type in my opinon
are much better --softseal is a good company ---i have the push pin set (same as clip in type)
most trucks i have seen and worked on have the holes for the seals ....i just think its a much better fit .
if you already have the glue on seals ---use black or yellow seal adhesive its great stuff but can get messy .
IMO....drilling holes in the doors (if needed ) isnt so bad as long as you measure between holes so seals fit snug --------my 2cents worth

google: 3m weatherstrip adhesive
available at any parts store in yellow or black
make sure you understand the correct orientation of the weatherstrip
it goes on backwards to any logical thinking

chances are you have the holes, just covered in filler or newer metal
i'd glue it before drilling 100s of holes

Re: Door seals help with my '59, please?

Thanks for all of the replies, guys. I'm dumb! I do have the holes. It's amazing how much I think that I remember, only to be wrong when I get my eyes on something. I bought a tube of the yellow adhesive. Im also ordering the push in/clip weather seals today. I'm in the middle of painting my '68, then this coming winter my '59 is going to get stripped down for new cab corners and paint. So, I'm gonna use just the drivers (missing) side glue in seal, to get me by until paint, then will go with the clip in seals once the truck gets painted.

_Ogre, heres how I imagined them going in. I'm sure that they need to flip, based on your comment!

But, based on the only 90° angle on the seal, I could see them going in like this, too.

There are a few you tube videos on correct install by various vendors for these doors

I found this video on ClassicParts' website. Linked to Youtube. It pretty much lays out the process.

If they look like they're on right....they're not! The 90* angle does NOT conform to the door edge shape.

Also, let me put my two cents in for Steele Rubber Products. They cost a little more but I've never heard a single negative review of their products.

This video might help you see how the clip in seals are installed

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pal2JnOsiV8&t=297s

I used this product and it fitted very well on my '57. They just clip in, really easy and no gluing.

Mike is absolutely correct. You need the ones with the pins and from Soff Seal.

Thanks! Got the drivers side on without issue. Door is a little difficult to close now, but seems to have already gotten easier. I got the seal on okay, though I certainly wouldn't go out of my way to use these seals again. This truck is going to get taken apart for body work and paint before too long (once my '68 is finished in the body/paint shop), so I went ahead and used these since I already had them. Wasn't as bad as I thought that it was going to be. I am definitely going to order the clip in seals as suggested for when it goes back together after paint.
