Took the 72 out to test drive some suspension work I did and see if the heater would keep up at -25c. It did.

Maybe one of you guys can answer this question, my truck has th400 behind a 350, h052 in rear, when I drive easy it shifts at about 9 or 10mph and then at about 25 mph, if i get on it, its 16mph and 35mph, but if im above 30 mph and its already in 3rd i can floor it and it wont downshift, it just bogs until ut goes into second at around 20 to 25, the camper does bog it on hills, is this a governor or something to avoid high downshifts...i had a mechanic check the vacuum and township mechanism on the tranny and he said it was good, I can also make a new thread, in just getting used to this awesome forum and realize i might have highjacked it, sorry

Check your kick down switch. You might also check to see if the vacuum modulator can be adjusted. But the switch is the first culprit to check, I think. Do you have a picture of the setup of the carburetor on the driver's side?

Looks like auto fill misspelled something into "township". What word did you mean?

Also, I'd recommend starting a new thread so that this one dosen't get derailed.

I’ve just pretty well finished my fleetside shortbox and thought shortboxes were where it’s at, now....I’m going to see a 70 longhorn in a couple days and it has the glovebox record so I’m wondering if you all can mention any unique options I should hope for it to have?? I don’t know how it will fit in my driveway so well, but who cares!!

sooo, as some of us may already know, that beautiful ochre longhorn made it to the farm for my mom last year..

well, what's better than one '71 longhorn... two '71 longhorns of course

keeping the red one here for repairs and such but so far, not much I wasn't expecting..

transporter did bust the cab marker lights but we struck a cash deal on the spot..

had a couple of hard starts and fits of backfire but 90% of the time runs very well..

did find a partial napa carb kit in the cab so that may explain part of it

likely an 80's era target motor with a little lifter tick but very strong with q-jet and points

clutch is tight, no funny noises, rolls smooth and quietly, had it to 60mph so far no vibrations..

lights, gauges, even cigar lighter work.. horn switch clicks but no 'toot' so have to look into that..

interior condition is amazing! curious about the seat pattern but the build sheet still stuck in the back so sure it's original..

needs complete bed wood, strips, and hardware, heater core, and tires on the short list..

barnyard repaint looks better across the street than up close but gets the job done.. red paint - check

rust in all the usual places, some repairable / some requires panel replacement.. but meh, MO farm boy is used to it

no leaks on the ground so far but really haven't got into it very far, just got it home Thursday night..

overall, rough in a lot of ways but well optioned, great running, with a lot of potential..

very excited to have it in my driveway

Its a 350-SM465-HO52, with A/C and 72K, one owner Cali truck.

PS: truck is a 1970 model, Wife is a 1969 model, both holding up well.

hmmm, accidentally uploaded a duplicate file name to dropbox folder and it replaced the other picture..

anyways, I found this wadded up in a bag in the truck! dated 7 days after my birth date

looks like a customer order.. special order maybe?



this one is still stuck in the seat and very brittle.. I pushed in the padding to get it to drop a little without damaging anymore..

any ideas for getting it out? mirrored from using front camera and can't swap in phone

thanks to Mrs. Bee, managed to get enough hands in the back of the seat to remove the other build sheet in tact



this afternoon I managed to overlay them to get as complete a picture as I can without damaging them..



so first question, anyone know if the original tire size listed as 750X16X8 on build sheet were 16"?

there is no tire size listed on the SPID of this truck so not sure if there was a standard size that wouldn't be listed?

I've seen 16.5 expressed 165 in SPIDs, not sure about build sheets..

for instance, the other 71 longhorn SPID calls 950X165X8 which I assumed were 16.5"

Ok, I know I'm not going crazy, but my dad had a 72 longhorn, but the rear wheels were about a foot from the rear bumper, I always thought it looked like a pulling truck. Am I looking at these pictures wrong.

I loved how it looked but hated that truck at the same time, (we burned firewood) I was wore out.
