I did, caps exact same, width exact same, the inside neck on the new spicer is slightly larger I'm talking millimeters.

The guys at the DRIVESHAFT specialty shop (six states driveline) said "Oh yea your truck uses a 1350" yet it won't slip in the yoke however caps fit fine.

Six States is a pretty good on their Dana info. If the u-joint caps fit in the yoke you usually have to press them in.

I have had good luck with Six States.

Try reversing the U Joint, sometimes the shape of the body and the shape of the drive shaft can interfere, in other words one side of the u joint body might better fit the stub shaft instead of the drive shaft. I know it seems odd but i have seen it in the past, had to do with the grease zerk location..

Tried that, I am thinking the old driveshafts are just not shaped like the new ones thus not allowing the U-joint peg to slide in. In other words the driveshaft "ears" or yoke are just flat outright and new shafts have a slant by the ears allowing more room.

May just get a entire new driveshaft made.I prefer the 1350's anyway they are really heavy duty.

1350's it is, the driveshafts with old casting will not work unless you shave them like the new shafts. So yes all 3/4 ton 72's use 1350's.
