Longest you've owned a vehicle? Here's our FIFTY!

I got mine when I turned 16 in '84. Better yet, my Dad bought it new in '69, so it's been in the family for FIFTY years this year, but I've still had it myself for 35 years I guess which kind of blows my mind.

Here's a pic of my and my Dad putting the plates on in about 1971 and then my kids and I this year... we've tried to take one every year! Note also the same plate for 50 years!

Here's a video I made a while back about it:

Re: Longest you've owned a vehicle? Here's our FIFTY!

My dad bought this 58 Apache in 68 (second owner) for working around our “farm”. It didn’t look like this when he bought it It’s now retired like him and he finished building it last summer after it sat in transition since 87. He did EVERYTHING himself on this, paint, body, upholstery, etc. It is a total one off custom with a lot of subtle modifications. Someday I will own it

Not much of a fan for lowered vehicles, but this is one of the finest setups I've ever seen. Just the right stance!

That sloped hood is pretty cool....that must be part of the customization.

Re: Longest you've owned a vehicle? Here's our FIFTY!

ya'll probably heard this before, dad's '65 C20 from the beginning, what I learned to drive on the farm..

out here temporarily 'til I retire and take dad's truck home and me with it

so for me, only about 4 years for this one, but it will grow even older with me..

bought an '02 GMC new, still daily drive it.. good work truck but nothing to write about

Re: Longest you've owned a vehicle? Here's our FIFTY!

I bought my 67 C10 from an uncle when I was 15 in 1996. This November will be 23 years. It's been pretty much drivable the entire time I've owned it.

It is . He pie cut the hood, shaped and molded it. Lots of time to do this.

Re: Longest you've owned a vehicle? Here's our FIFTY!

Bought my '72 K20 in spring of 1977 so it's creeping up on 42 years. That's the longest by far for me.... I think the next is our 2005 Tacoma which we still own.

Thanks! I’m not super big on lowering anymore, but this is now a sport truck hot rod made to perform on the street, not in the fields The front end is out of a 76 Volare and is torsion bar so it’s adjustable. This was where he began in 87, long before kits were offered. Another subtle mod that I never see done is a radius on the sharp ends where the door meets the body.

Re: Longest you've owned a vehicle? Here's our FIFTY!

For me, so far, it was my 2002 Silverado W/T. I had it 11 years. I was always one to change pretty often because I bought junkers and averaged 50-60K a year, so 3-5 years was my normal life span.

My father in law gave me my 1936 Ford Coupe in 1960, before I married his daughter. First picture is right after I brought it home, second is right after I finished it in 1964 with me and my 2 "girl friends"...... Third picture is after I refurbished it about 1979 and the fourth picture is last fall after I finished rebuilding it for the third time. Pat and I plan on putting a lot of miles on it this coming summer. I have owned the car for 59 years and the wife and I will be married 55 years on June 27th. I'm not big on getting rid of things....

Thanks! I will get more pics when I go visit him again in AZ, I just have a few on my iPhone. Here are some of the engine bay, and the shaved drip rail. It’s got a Muncie 4 speed behind it with a 3.73 9” rear end. Vintage Air added to stay cool in the Havasu sun. I was grinning ear to ear when he took me for a ride in it

Re: Longest you've owned a vehicle? Here's our FIFTY!

'70 Buick GS455 purchased from the original owner in 1982 when I was 17. $1000, that sure was a lot of $$ for me at the time, took months to save for that car........

'65 C10 purchased from my then employer in 1991. $1000 for that one too.

Just a couple of good old gals I chose to keep through dozens of others that have come and gone over the years.

Smile Re: Longest you've owned a vehicle? Here's our FIFTY!

...here is my '66 Chevy 1/2 ton.
Had it now for approx.. 25 years....or 'a quarter century'.

I'm hoping to swing into this pretty soon so I can spend some time on the 60-66 group area, lol.

I bought this out of Florida in the 90's and my wife and I flew down to Jacksonville and drove it home.
It hasn't been on the road in about 10 years and its due for some refurbishment.
It has the good ol' 250-6cyl / 3-OTT, manual steering and brakes.
I'm hoping to switch this over to a power steering/brakes and 700R automatic truck for my wife to drive.

All good
