Question about 12 bolt axles

Hi,
I'm starting to work on my 65 rear brakes and noticed the axles have quite a bit of in and out movement. How much is normal? I haven't measured how much exactly but it is very noticeable, should I be worried?
Thanks,
Jon

Re: Question about 12 bolt axles

theres gonna be some side to side movement...1/8" or less I would think...contributing factors would be worn c-clips, crosspin, or side gears...

Re: Question about 12 bolt axles

Thanks,
I'm doing a disk brake conversion so I'll be taking the axles out and I'll check those things. I have at least 1/8 inch on both sides so I'm going to see if I can tighten that up some.

Re: Question about 12 bolt axles

I believe they do make c-clip shims to help with that but you want to make sure you don't have any other issues first.
