Re: Whose on Steelies? Post 'em up!

mine isn't slammed but i cut about 1 1/2 coils off all 4 springs.

it has 10s with a 4 or 4 1/2" backspace. it looks like they would rub but they don't.

you could mount some used tires on them and see.

Re: Whose on Steelies? Post 'em up!

yea they stick out a little--it's MT 29 12.50s on the back.

if you used some 255 70s or something similar so they'd stretch out they would probably work.

Re: Whose on Steelies? Post 'em up!

Here's mine, but i need to get some new tires on them so they will look right. These are just for moving the truck around for now.. Going to be putting some 295 drag radials on the back and some 225/70/15's up front...

Tim,

Same exact wheels, same exact color and very simialr tires as on my '72 C-10. I could post a picture, but if you remember, I'm not good at it, lol.

Re: Whose on Steelies? Post 'em up!

I do agree that the term ''steelies'' usually refers to stock style steel wheels that come on base trucks but I don't care they're made of steel lol. i do have a set that will go on my truck later but this is what I got now.

How hard is it to find the 15x8 steelies? I have a set of 15x6's. Who can I get to widen them?

This company does it. They aren't the cheapest but they do quality work.

Re: Whose on Steelies? Post 'em up!

Ask around on the widening. They sure are tough to find. Ask dirt track racers. A lot of them have "built" wheels or at least they used to. I need to find a place near here. I want a pair of 10s. I know years ago my dad had a set of 8 or 10" wagon wheels built for his Land Rover. They were completely fabricated. I wish I had found out back then. He's gone now and besides, that was in '78 or so. They may not be around any more.

Re: Whose on Steelies? Post 'em up!

I just swapped out the slotted wheels and big tires that my truck came with for a set of steelies. I painted the new wheels with some WalMart spray paint and put some skinny tires on them to get more of a stock look.

The steelies came to me with the car dog dish hubcaps but I kind of dig the look and will keep them around for a while.

Here's the before and after shots:
