Re: boxing or stiffening framw without welding

Sure, why not? If you use sections of channel and bolt them in it will brace the frame. Of course it would be better to weld it, but it can be done.

Why, does it need more support?

Re: boxing or stiffening framw without welding

Glad someone asked this and I hope there will be more input on this. Been following the "Make it Handle" thread by Rob-Nolimit and this is hopefully an alternative to welding everything, seems you would want "some" flex the reason aircraft is rivited constriction is for that very reason otherwise you could end up with fatigue cracks, whats ya'lls thots on this? Thanks

Re: boxing or stiffening frame without welding

I was always under the impression that welding the frame is frowned upon because it is tempered steel, which is why with flip kits and such they install bolt on reinforcements. This obviously does not apply to the weld in C-Notches but I don't know much about those. For all my welds, I have added bolt in reinforcing plates, it might be overkill but it beats a broken frame.
