Re: '69 GMC Build Thread.

wow sweet truck, makes me want to get mine running, but $ are short since i have no job...
loving the paint too! we once painted a tractor using diesel fuel as thinner, and it came out beautiful! shows that equipment paint is good stuff!
keep running that truck 'til she quits!...then rebuild!

Re: '69 GMC Build Thread.

Haha, wow guys. Way to dig up the old thread. Thank you all for the compliments nonetheless. It's been a helluva ride, and I don't regret a thing about it.

There's really nothing to update regarding the build, aside from the recent exhaust change, which will be addressed with a sound clip when I get a spare moment.

Other then that...just keep on keepin' on.

Re: '69 GMC Build Thread.

Haha, thanks for the compliments. About that drop...yeah...we'll see.

Honestly, after I get my Chevy II completed, I may swap this body over to a 3/4-ton frame, either 2wd or 4wd. Then I could really use it as a truck and abuse the living daylights out of her, since she'd no longer have daily driver duties.

But, thats all up in the air. :p

thanks again!

Re: '69 GMC Build Thread.

Which one?

The one that was in it when I got it...kind've worked.

The cassette player that I was going to install, as far as I know, worked.

Otherwise, the various Am's...I have no idea.

Thanks for diggin' up my thread, haha.

Re: '69 GMC Build Thread.

Thanks again everyone.

I'm still driving the old girl, I've been running fence lines with it and hauling whatever needs to be hauled. Those 3.07's out back sure don't like lugging, but, they do it nonetheless. Haha.

Aside from an oil change and being forced to change the mufflers, nothing has been done to her but put gas in it, and bump the key.

All the work that went into her, despite the wavy panels, and a few issues of lifting bondo and paint, well. I love 'er. And alot of other people do as well. And I suppose thats what it's all about...

And because I never posted this in my build thread...

And new exhaust, went from Cherry bomb glasspacks to Thrush Turboes.

Excuse the water vapor, this was taken last fall after I changed the mufflers, so it was like..late November, kinda chilly...haha.

and, just to update, this is what I've been spending my time and money on as of late.

Thats about it, just keepin' on keepin' on...

Re: '69 GMC Build Thread.

Glad to see the old girl is alive and doing well Sam.

Can't wait to see what all you end up doing on the Nova.

Re: '69 GMC Build Thread.

Thanks Bill. . You followed me through the good and the bad on this one. Haha. I can't tell you how much your comments meant to me when I'd leave the garage in frustration. You and 67 C30 provided me with the much needed motivation. So, thank you again.

As for the II, it's in pieces and rusted to bits. Haha, typical Wisconsin car. Getting truck traling arms, new floor and subframes, stock front end. Going to run a big ol' 6 cylinder in 'er, hopped up a bunch, and someday a 4 speed if I can scrape the money. Til then, I'll be bangin' gears on the tree, lol. A nice red with white top two tone should do the trick looks wise.

Ultimately, I'm gonna run it at an 1/8th mile ice drag that happens about a half hour south of here. There's a tuner division, if my memory serves me, for four and six cylinders. I think I'll go beat up on some rice. . And maybe a few V8's, but thats a big maybe.

Aside from that, gonna build it, drive it, break it, and repeat. Just like they were intended to be.

-Sam.
