No problem! I look most days anyway. And I understand about the GMC bed! I may not do it anyway. I have a 70 C20 that my wife's grandfather bought new, that just happens to be copper/white. It's a reg long bed, but I pondered lengthening it to longhorn spec and dropping it. I got on this kick when I found a real Camper Cruiser (a GMC LH version) recently---I went so far as to ask PB why a rear dropmember wouldnt work in that frame.

It may be the same mental illness that makes a guy want to make a C30 lay frame!

Re: She's a ton of fun (dually build on air)

lol I really considered leaving it a longhorn but I didn't want the hassle of having a special set up made for the rear. Plus as you already know I want to find a bed to match the cab and theres no way thats gonna pop up in a longhorn! lol

Re: She's a ton of fun (dually build on air)

One thing that is interesting to me is that a Longhorn bed fits the cab-to-axle and WB of a 31003 cab & chassis. I always thought a reg 8' bed fit them, or at least fit the cab-to-axle dimension, maybe requiring shortening the rear frame extensions. Where is the extra length in a Longhorn bed? Is the WB the same on a C20 as a C20 LH?

BTW--my .02 on the trans choice. I have tons of miles in 5-speed manual Chevy 2500 and 3500 trucks, both with LT and LS engines (i guess that would be a NV3500). I love that combo. In my current one, which is a heavier truck (most of mine have been reg cab, this is an ext), it has stock (smallish diam)tires, and a less-than-original-strength 100K mile 5.7---on flat ground I take off in second, but if I have to use first, it's smooth and easy. Not like the old granny-gear first gears. I think with the 292, and a 30+" tire, and a 3.73 or 3.90 R&P (maybe 4.11); you would have a sweet package.

Re: She's a ton of fun (dually build on air)

Thanks for the input on the Nv3500. I believe thats the route I will go. As far as the longhorn bed the extra 6" is in the front of the bed. A c20 is 127" wheel base and a long horn is 133", same as a cab and chassis.
