Re: Project: Agent Orange

The masking would probably be easier if you used plastic sheet instead of newspaper. I'm not saying, just saying, ya know...

Looks like a good result though, the name definitely fits the finish.

Re: Project: Agent Orange

Plastic sheets are not the best for using as a masking barrier. Paint can "sit" on top of it unlike a paper barrier where it absorbs and dries. When you go to pull plastic off you can leave paint chips or even paint that isn't dry onto your new paint job. Trevor

Lizardskin is looking good. A little more cottage cheese than I expected though.
It settled a lot over night as it dried, it's not exactly like Linex but not Rhino Liner either, I'm good with it.
We'll see what the ceramic layer does for it.

Papers free.

Your right, Lizard Skin...lol

New pics, same spot of what it's looking like this a.m. as it's drying, calming down a lot too.

With luck, it'll be one of my great grand kids!

Never thought I'd do this to a truck but in this case, it made good sense for the intended use & abuse it's going to see.

Build em to drive em baby!

Looks good! What is the cure time on that stuff - does it need heat to dry out - since it isn't that warm here (or there) much longer -

First coat seemed to dry enough to spray over in a couple hours, heat was @ 65 degrees in the shop.

I used a heat gun a little bit to help it along so I could spray the 2nd coat before ending my day in the shop, only had to hit the nooks & crannies. the flats were dry.

I applied the 2nd coat really heavy and there's still a couple places were it hasn't dried yet and I kept the shop @ 60 degrees all night.

Going to leave the heat @ 60 with hopes of being able to apply the ceramic layer tonight after work.

Haven't decided if I'm going to apply color to this section while it's masked off or whether I'll continue onto the bed area with the liner, at least spray color on the firewall & under the dash to avoid over-spray later I'm thinking.

Re: Project: Agent Orange

The thing that turned me off about the lizards skin is the fact that it is sandable. That just makes it sound like it wont last as long as bed liner.

Just flat black when it's dry but it's paintable.

Not really being used as a 'bed liner' per say, plus it's not advertised as such, it's advertised as sound & heat control.

Two other things to consider though, #1 - it's paintable where others are not & #2 - it cleans up with water.

When we're done with Moab next year, tag along with Greg & I on the trip home and fly back to Cali leaving it here to be fixed up, then the following Sept. fly out and we'll pull a caravan out to Moab again!

See how easy...

I realize this. I was trying to say two things at once. In response to the people talking about the texture that it is sandable to where you can smooth it out and paint over it.

But for the people talking about it being hard to remove, it is not a bedliner, and thus would be easier to remove.

I do plan to try it out, but on a car where it will be covered by carpet.

How do you plan on using it VT? Just as it is, or are you going to cover it?

After seeing & feeling it dry, I agree with you, it wouldn't make a very durable bed liner for any kind of abusive use.

Painting over it in body color.

Going to use a base/clear system.

There is a noticable difference now when rapping on the metal, a fair amount more muffled.

Ceramic coat dried up.

Didn't really apply it "as per instructions" but I think it laid down better my way.

Whats the surface like after it dried? Is it hard, or more soft and rubber like?
