May not have to take apart. Spray some WD40 on everything, gently pry around with a screwdriver, see what happens. You may need some new weights and pins though...

Take a picture for us, that will help.

Be careful removing the springs. I've dropped them, never found one after dropping...

Take the rotor off and check for the pads underneath the weights it gets gummed up and needs cleaning. if it has the factory springs on it, they are pretty stiff let alone the gummed up pads.

Every one I've seen frozen up I've had to remove the dizzy and take it completely apart. Usually have to soak the bottom side with carb cleaner while moving it back and forth before it will come apart

I took it out and sprayed it and again and again all day it moved very little. I,m suprized it ran so good. When I take the roll pin out on the gear to take the shaft out ,do you reuse it or get a new one,if I need a new roll pin is there a certain one to get as in material ,strength etc.

Most kits come with a 'complete build', new springs, pins and weights.

Over time they can become sticky, especially if there were ever a cap issue where condensation could build.

When you removed the springs and weights usually a piece of emory cloth will do the trick, or a piece of sandpaper.

Working on HEI's is too much work to save $50. I have a box full of old HEI's and all my vehicles have new ones from Skip White for $50.
