I've got a soft dark Stetson "Lonesome Trail" that is my spring/summer/fall standard: riding horses, hiking, going to town, whatever.
Fur lined bomber cap this time of year, or a lined baseball cap with ear flaps. Grubby baseball cap when working on stuff like trucks or in cellar, etc. Tin hard hat for logging

At work I wear many hats: Chief Financial Officer, Psychologist, baby sitter, Official back patter, Referee, Etc. Etc.
My wife has been giving me haircuts during the pandemic, so I do wear a hood every now and then. She is getting better. |

None if I can help it. I do wear a floppy fishing hat when I am at car shows taking pictures, but that is about it. Never liked them much and was so glad to not have them everyday like I did in military.

I don't have long hair. For that matter, I don't have a lot of hair. I just mostly wear ball caps when I wear anything and a straw hat when I'm working in the yard to keep from burning my head.

I've been follically challenged most of my adult life to a cover while I outdoors in the summer is necessary to prevent a head sunburn. If you've never had a sunburn on the top of your head you just don't know what a sunburn is.
I have a variety of ball caps that I wear and it varies depending upon my mood. While wade fishing I have an outback style hat I bought at a hat store while on a trip with my wife on our one year anniversary. That was 26 years ago now and that hat has many, many river miles on it.

And then it's just strategically used scissors on the top. I can now go out in public without a hat, haha. Proud of myself. But this thread is not about haircuts. I wear knit caps and look like a longshoreman when it's cold. Hat off to any longshoremen that are reading this. Other than that, a beat, old, favorite baseball cap when I'm working on stuff. Otherwise, a couple of baseball caps with big purple W's on them when I'm "cleaned up”. |

I've never been a hat wearer. The exception is when I go to the salt flats in August I have a floppy hat I wear to help stop the sun from melting me. And sometimes in the winter I wear what they are calling a beanie these days, but we just called it a stocking cap when I was a kid.

I have a couple of stingy brim fedoras and a Panama Jack that has a wide brim and is vented around the crown (but not on top). I wear that when it's really hot out. Any baseball cap I've ever worn seemed to get taken by the wind, so I gave up on them. When it's really windy and I'm taking the dog for a walk, I have a Thinsulate(R) beanie that I wear.

I'm bald headed, and light skin, hats in summer a must. Had to wear them since a young kid. If not, head and top of ears will sunburn bad enough to peel. Sore too. I use western hats/w 5 in. brims for dress, Summers, Western straw, 4" brim. Winters, ball caps, and hooded coats. Hats/caps are a must. If I hurry outside without one, it seems as if I'd forgot my britches, so a skidding stop, u-turn, and back for one.
