What came with the 6.0 with alum heads?
I have a line on a 6.0 iron block with alum heads. I don't know anymore than that. What cars or trucks would this have come in?
What is the engine code for this engine like LQ4? Or is this an LQ4? thanks for the input!

Is it still in the truck? Do you know the year?
Does it have the ecm?...if it does the 8th letter is U for a LQ4, and N for LQ9 The LQ4s came in trucks and suvs.. LQ4 has a dished piston....LQ9 is flattop piston..

Won't have the VIN, but the service number. Search that and should give you a general idea. Most likely from a truck. Are you sure it's a 6.0? It will be stamped behind the flywheel. Most likely an LQ4, but could be LQ9. Same motor, the LQ9 has lil more compression. Too bad far away, I have a LQ4 not gonna use.

I do know its a 6.0, but not sure which one. Either would be fine and may swap it into my Tahoe. Its its an LQ4, it may do better on 87 octane.

Most likely a truck. If it was a GTO or Camaro whatever it would say on the intake cover, and would have a low profile intake. Plus I think the car versions were aluminum.

Re: What came with the 6.0 with alum heads?
I believe the first year 6.0 had iron block and iron heads. Also that first year engine had a different crank offset. Then after that it had aluminum heads and iron blocks. Then in 200? they changed to aluminum blocks. On the 2012 L92 engine I have on my engine stand on the back of the block right hand side just above where the flex plate radius is it has raised letters 6.2 L confirming its displacement.
Can't say the same thing about 6.0. |

I have seen the 6.2L on those blocks. What a novel idea!
