New project, opinions on chassis paint
Just picked up this 97 short bed. Been sitting for a couple years, so it needed a tank drain and new fuel pump. It was obviously a northern truck and my next project is to paint the frame.
Looking at several options... POR 15, Eastwood, & KBR coatings. Has anyone used this kit by KBR? It's reasonable in price but I don't want the frame to be too glossy. Just wondering if anyone else used it, I plan on spraying it, maybe brushing hard to get areas. http://www.kbs-coatings.com |

Re: New project, opinions on chassis paint
I know a few people that do full ground up restorations who swear by POR15 but that kbs all in one chassis kit looks like a heck of a deal.

Re: New project, opinions on chassis paint
Congrats on the new ride. I personally used por15 on my 72 frame and loved it. Yes it is glossy. Never used the KBR kit, so can't give opinion on that.
BTW, if you don't mind me asking, did you pick that truck up locally? I'm in Ocala as well. DZL1. |

Joe ,you made me smile, if that was a northern truck it would be 500 lbs lighter and have rust holes all over.

Not sure. To many family things to do. Most likely not. Maybe next year.

Re: New project, opinions on chassis paint
I through down some POR 15 paint on my chevelle frame after I had sand blasted it. another suggest that i could give is rustoleum. I painted my rear brake drums right over the caked on rust. didn't do any prep to them and the paint is holding up really well on them after going through snow and rain many times already. I wouldn't hold me to it due to the fact i did it about a month or 2 ago. we will see in 4 to 6 months if it holds.

spi black epoxy easy to spray can touch it up with brush or detail gun. inexpensive and looks good.
