LS motor & 4L80E 4x4 swap links and questions

I imagine there are links and posts galore I just cannot find many

I have a 1972 4x4 swb manual that I am either going to put a NV4500 in or what i would really like is a LS6 with a 4L80E

Just looking for a few links to determined if it is worth the effort to do the swap to an auto

One problem your not thinking of is the t case,The newer trucks like the 4l80e is in uses the wrong side drop t case.I believe you can use a np241 from a 88-91 k5/suburban or use a adapter kit and run a np205.And again using the nv4500 you will probably be stuck doing the same thing use a np241 or a adapter kit.As far as swap parts http://pacificfabrication.com/63-72-...ssmembers.html and http://dirtydingo.com/store/product_...oducts_id=1408 both are a engine crossmember. The trans/tcase mount your kinda on your own to rig up,Most take a stock one and move/ cut and mod it to fit.

Can you bolt up a np 208 to a 4L80 or 4L60? Aren't the 4L60 and 80 just an OD version of the th350/400.... So you can run a newer ls motor and a matching 4x4 trans to a older TC to get the passenger side TC drop?

4L60, NP205, no problem. Advance Adapters makes what you need. Sorry, no part number...

Pac Fab's LS crossmember works well, so long as you have at least 2" of lift.

Re: LS motor & 4L80E 4x4 swap links and questions

I'm just about the jump into this part of my build. I picked up an LQ9 6.0 and a 4L80e to put in her for $2000 for the set. Looks like the advance adapters is a must have to mate to my np205. Anyone have any pictures of what they did with the Trans/Trans case crossmember to make it work? I think that's my next order of business. I can't wait to get this puppy in place! I decided to put a tuff country 2" spring lift on mine just to make sure I had clearance. Just sonething you may want to check out. I also heard the engine crossmember has to be moved up an inch to get everything resting in the right spot. I also heard there's plenty more room to move it up if you like. I'll def be posting some pics of her once I get to that stage. Good luck and keep posting on your progress, I'm sure I'll run into some problems. Fingers crossed.

Wow, that's a nice deal on the engine/tranny. Mileage? Is that including accessories, ECM, etc? I'm keeping my eyes open for something similar...
