Yukon, i was wondering if you could post some pictures of your friends white dually, and your flatbed, i am strongly considering a flatbed and ive always wanted a dually so im thinkin my orange truck might get converted. if you like you can email them if you prefer ryanroo@iastate.edu

Wow thanks for the quick response. one more question, who made your flatbed, and what was the cost (if you feel like sharing). Did you weld it on or is it bolted on? thanks again

Ryan, I'm right there with you. I'm going to sling my 72's dually rear under my GMC. Haven't decide on the bed yet as I have an 8' stepside I'd like to use. Will have to keep each other posted. I fell it would be easier that way then trying to sling an axle under under the front of the 72.

1970 K25, 8' stepside bed 350/465/205 44 up front, 60 in the rear 4.10s rolling on 33" Dunlop MTs 1986 K5, 350/465/208 Dana 60/14 bolt from a cucv 36" Super Swampers TSL/SX 1983 K20 w/ CUCV axles, 350/700R4/208 sitting on 37" Goodyears 1986 M1031 6.2 diesel, TH400/NP205 locker in the rear and a LS in the front, all stock for now..... 1986 K30, 350/400/205 dana 60 and 14 bolt. I kept the drivetrain. Body/bad and chassis are gone. 1981 K30, 350/465/205 dana 60 and dually 14 bolt. Has a G80, and a flat bed. Going to replace the flat bed. 1985 K20, 350/400/208 10 bolt and SF 14 bolt. I wonder where I can find some 1 tons. Hmmmmm

A company outside of Wichita, KS called Bradtech made the flatbed to my specifications. I was going to install it myself but finally decided it would be much more simple to let them do it for a bit more added cost. The standard bed was about $900 or so if my memory serves me correctly and mine with some additions and installed was just under $2,000. More than the initial cost of my truck! It sure adds alot of functionality to my truck for me.

i do have the tires and wheels still, actually wanting to sell my 8 inch lift also, to bad you already have one. you can PM about the tires if you want. thanks Thanks again Yukon i might have to look around for options on the flatbed i think there is a place in my hometown that makes/installs them. when we fabricated mine, the total cost was around $450 total. It's made from a 3 1/4" x 3/16" thick C channel . We coped the ends to fit into each other for a smooth corner and welded it up. The bumper was a piece of checker plat I had cut to the shape I wanted, and I made the mounting brackets and side mount gussets. It was actually easier than I thought it was going to be.

I don't have the facilities i wish i did to fabricate my own(and probaly not the talent either) if i could do it myself im sure i would. Jim i agree we will have to keep in touch. i think i will try to find the front and rear out of a late 70's-early 80's one ton 4x4 to use for mine, or convert the dana 44 somehow. Ryan |
