More progress, Spent about 12 hours blasting, priming, and painting the frame, it was a long day. Finally, I can start re-assembling. Also got some new parts in Friday too. Very dissappointed in the packaging they used. I hope the spindle threads weren't damaged.

I bought them from a guy on Ebay, LINK he was a little cheaper than most places.
I originally ordered the 2.5" Westerns but they were back ordered. He had the Belltech 3" #3120 drop shipped direct to my house for the same price. They look like really good quality parts. I paid $248 shipped.

It is suppose to be black but it's more of a dark gray. It also tends to be more of a satin finish when cured. I hope it's durable, we'll see.

gonna be a real nice build, laughed at the jb weld, we actually did this to a 3.0 v6 in my old boat that frost cracked over winter to get on the lake while the replacement was being shipped, it was probably pretty risky, but it held until the new one came in, keep up the progress

sorry for all the questions, I think we are getting the wife's frame for her '66 blasted here soon and I'm still on the fence about paint. I know a place in OKC where I can get big rig chassis paint, that is the way we are leaning at the moment

Nothing better than a complete frame off restoration Mike, everthing looks really good. I see you are going to lower it 4/6, How much does that give you for travel between frame and axel?

Thanks! Yep, I sprayed it with my old primer gun, it works really good. You can thin it with xylol. I bought it at Lowes $14.98 qt. and yes it can be rolled but as good as it sprays I wouldn't. It's not near this shiny when it drys or cures. It's kinda satin finish. I'll get more pics. I thought about chassis paint too but this stuff was cheap and handy. seems to be pretty tough. but we'll see

Thanks, Not sure which travel you are talking about? Turning radius? I think it will be pretty close to normal as long as I stay with larger wheels. Which I'm planning on 18" or bigger.

I'm not sure if you have to use primer or not. I actually hit the more pitted areas with a rust conversion primer first then hit the whole thing with self etching. I got the primer at Home depot in Norman and they carry the paint too. The primer dries real quick probably about 30-45 min. On the hammered paint, I painted a tack coat, by the time I got back around to where I started it was ready for a wet coat, then let it tack dry to the touch. Final wet coat to make sure I got good coverage.

I'm not sure how close the rear diff is going to be to hitting bump stops or frame? If I find it bottoming out I can put a bolt in c-notch. I prefer not to but if I need to I will. Nate's (Blank Slate) has the setup I am shooting for HERE.

Here you go Joe, this should give you an idea of what the paint looks like dried. The can says "hammered" but it seems to lay pretty flat when sprayed. I wonder if you use a brush it looks more hammered?
