Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Pulled the dash pad last night. It's been sitting under towels, and until today hasn't been cleaned in I don't know, 20 years maybe. Real happy with it. The vinyl in these trucks are well made. Out of the elements and they're built to last. Now it's off to bed. I'll see this again in 18 months-ish

Don't imagine there's a clean fix?

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

As I previously posted I took my console for media blasting yesterday and got it back today. I am not comfy leaving near impossible to find parts out of my control for any longer than I have too.

It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

X3............Thing I sweat most is my hardware. Luckily I found a zinc plating operation in Reno/Sparks. I might prefer phosphate, but I'm not prepared to leave this stuff longer than a day or two, and no shipping either.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Finally after 6 plus years I got up off my dong and fixed the heater, MAN why did I wait for so long...lazy on some stuff.

Never Pop kit is awesome, went together smoothly with minor mods. Some mini stainless allen head machine nylocs for the specialty screws that stripped out and presto chango....

Here ya go...gotta put the tach back in...more to come. The blower motor resistor went out years ago that got replaced also...simple.

It's an antique white and with a gun. Kinda re-thinking it though. They're not as yellow as in the picture but not the stock white I think they should be so will probably rough up the outer part and re-shoot before mounting tires.

Proud of this... super nice longbed floor no one wanted, I think I ended up getting it for like $150, cut into a shorty, and the bedside fit like a glove!

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

I made a very small amount of progress on disassembling my bed. I used a sawzall to cut off the last 2 bolts holding the front panel on. I couldn't get the sawzall in a good spot to cut any of the bolts holding the bedsides on, so I picked up a couple of cutoff wheels. But, I ran out of daylight.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Have this to deal with today, not a bad thing. These 2 cracked ones got me through over 1 1/2 years. Last time I dealt with the same issue it broke immediately.

Will post up some pics when done. I had some used manifolds on hand from a board member and thought about going a number of different routes, yet ended up being convinced after getting over 10 years of service out of the old system I would be money wise to do the same again.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Yesterday, I found out why everyone hates aftermarket patch panels. I had to slice this thing open in two places to fit the original fender lines.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Yeah, it's a beautiful fender that's only had one repaint. Perfectly straight. The only bondo was to hide what was left of the lower cup. There's a couple pinholes at the back, but once done, WAY better than an aftermarket fender

I just didn't expect it to fit that bad. It was a key parts one too. I think they want you to use the whole thing, it probably matches a lot closer at the top, I wanted to keep as much of the original lip around the fender as possible as the patch one didn't look to be formed all that great.

Day 2 of ordering parts form various suppliers in the USA. I'm having parts shipped to Plentywood Montana and will be going in early March to get them.

Cleaned and repainted the alternator using Eastwood rattle cans. I don't know if it would work at a concours show but looks alot better then when I took off the truck. I guess you could call it minor detailing.Name: IMG_0401.jpg
