Hello all! Im trying to find a place to buy a nice roll bar for my 72. Does anyone have an idea of a good manufacturer or do I need to get one custom made?

Smittybilt makes one. I have seen it advertised in catelogs. You can also get a weld-in cage unit that connects to this rollbar if you want.

I'm probably going to have one made just because I want it to do certain things and I'm also going to try and have speaker enclosures mounted in the corners and a recessed dome light. But that is just me!

See the link below and look about half way down the page. Blazin has a picture of a double rollbar setup. I'm guessing that it is custom made since it is angled back to match the drivers seat. Very sharp looking setup. That is what I would like to have in my truck, using the space between to double bars to mount my speakers and dome lights.

FourTrax, I have a smitty in my truck. They also make kits to make them into a cage. The only one with a double bar I have seen is the one in the pic 1970blazin posted in the link above. It was for sale on e-bay a while back.

Guys...well and gals for that matter,
What do you think of a rollbar or cage like the ones posted above on a 2wd Jimmy?
Heres the deal, My sweetie and my son love to run around with the top off the 72 Jimmy and I worry about a roll over or serious acccident with the precious cargo aboard! I would also like to mount 3pt seat belts and that roll bar would allow me to mount the shoulder strap securely . No its not a 4wd or even looks like one , its a street rod and a damn fast one.

Also for folks with roll bars.....Does it work with your hard/soft top with no modifications?

I have seen "family" cages that go full height all the way to the back. Keeps the back seat occupants safe too. You can always mount shoulder harness to the roll cage. Personally, I'm not a huge fan of the looks of roll bars/cages in 2wd blazers, but keeping the family safe is much more important than esthetics!

My roll bar is designed to go under the hard top/soft top. I don't have a cage, just the bar. I don't know if the family cages that go all the way to the back will work with a soft top like mine (old kayline) because it won't be able to fold down.

I have seen a few 2wd's with roll bars.The best looking one's had the bar wrapped in the same material as the interior.Made it look like it belonged in the truck.

Smittybilt's web site doesnt show the cage/roll bar like the one that 1970Blazin has in the post link above. I really like that one because it offers protection for all passengers and I think it would fit under the hard and soft top?
Anyone have a P/N and $ figures?
Man you folks have some super lookin rides , hell I thought we had the only 2wd Jimmy in Texas!

2WDBLAZER - Did you cut down a double tube rollbar to fit your blazer or did you custom make that unit?

Do you ever have a problem with hitting your head on the rollbar? I'm fairly tall (6'2") with a long upperbody. I've been a little nervous about installing a rollbar just because I can see banging my head on it all the time.

Love that orange truck!

It's my dad's truck and it was bought with that bar. I'd imagine it's a custom job. The bar does not get in the way either.

The SMittybuilt bar clears the hard top easily. The front down tubes need to be carefully placed in order for the window cranks to work with the door closed. I did better on the drivers side than the passengers...

Height won't be a problem. My buddy is 6'4" and he has about 6" of clearance with the stock buckets in the truck.
