67 classic big block

My name is Lance and this is the 67 classic big block project. I picked up this 67 three years ago from a old friend told me it had a 327 with camel backs, sm420, 4.10 posi rear end. Told me something was wrong with it so I had to trailer it home. The truck isn't really in that bad of condition from other I have seen. The original plan was to rebuild the 327 with all original parts, rebuild the sm420 an swap out the carrier in the rear end so the pickup would move a little faster. The plans slowly changed over time with the problems that came about. I also have a build thread for my 72 k20 called 72 modern swap.

Re: 67 classic big block

Started by pulling the trans and found the clutch was shout.. So I replaced the clutch and placed them back together but once I did the engine would'nt turn over. I pulled the engine deciding to just rebuild it the dang this. Cleaning it off and discovered all I had was a 283.

Put It back together finally, but I decided to sell it... I regret selling it but It didn't go far! My best friend bought it from me because I thought he would enjoy the pickup more then me. Once he got it ideas really started to gather.

Re: 67 classic big block

I had a 454 out of a 73 truck with only 5,000 miles on it. The truck was rolled over in the 80's so the end had been in hibernation the whole time. He asked about it and thats when the classic big block kicked in. He wanted the 454 with a 700r4 behind that. Lokar shifter to keep the truck classy looking. Its been coming a long slowly but surely. Built some pretty rad motor mounts for the 454. I moved the motor ahead so his new valve covers wouldnt hit the firewall. He tells me hes putting a blower on it, I called him nuts but guess its not mine anymore.

Re: 67 classic big block

Well having some bad luck got a big ol crack in one of the heads so now going to have to do some looking around for a set. Kinda a strange place for them to crack.

Re: 67 classic big block

I had a 366 that was in a fire so decide why the 454 sat I would scrap the 366. Pulled the crank for a late date build, planning on building a torque monster but will see how things go. If anyone is looking for a crank, double timing chain, and 4 bolt main caps I would sell mine at a good price.

Re: 67 classic big block

Didn't take much to get the engine cleaned up. My friend had it shining in no time.. I marked the placement of both the cam and crank to keep factory time. I put in a slightly more aggressive cam in and plan on also springs nothing to mean. Will post more pictures later.

Cam and lifters and double timing chain are installed! Looking great too! Got a hold of a guy just down the road that races at our local drag strip and he told me he had a few sets of heads so crossing my fingers.
