1970 C10 Power Steering Question

Hello lads,
I have installed a bolt-on IFS from Scott's Hotrods. It fits great, excited to get it fired up. The new rack and pinion sits just below the power steering pump from Tuff Stuff Performance, literally less than a foot.

The rack/pinion has 5/8"-18 o-ring and 9/16"-18 o-ring fittings, and the high pressure side of the pump is 5/8"-18 inverted flare. So what I'm curious about is what type of hose I should use.

I've also considered getting a short rubber hose with the crimped on -6AN fittings and buying -6AN to 9/16"-18 o-ring and -6AN 5/8"-18 inverted flare fitting. Or I have left over brake line that I could get the same fittings and flare the brake line.

What would be the best way for me to go about this, in yall's esteemed opinion? Thanks for the help.

Either a custom line or just buy an adapter fitting for what size to X size you need. The adapter fitting would be the most available made by Earls, Inline Tube, etc

as stated adapter fittings, or custom hose and fittings.
No hose clamps they will leak on power steering.

You could also just change the fitting in the back of the pump to accept the o ring style to match

I'd be calling Scotts hotrods and asking them what you need to make it work .

Re: 1970 C10 Power Steering Question

If I recall correctly, the pressure side of the power steering will see pressures as high as 1500 pounds. Do not use anything except specifically designed hose to fitting parts. I often see standard AN fittings with braded hose used. Given how often I see, I wonder why I blow off 2 after a few hours of track use on the race car using good quality hose and fittings. I have a custom hydraulic hose shop not far from me. The hose they made held up for years of track use. Be safe and use a correctly made hose with no adaptors or short cuts. PS fluid is very slippery and being at the forward location will create a bad situation should the fluid end up under a tire at speed.
