2000 Silverado radio lights??

Anyone know how to replace the interior light in the radio--is it a changeable bulb or one that is hard wired to a board. Can't see the settings!!!
PS If i remove the radio, I have no idea of the original security settings--will that also screw me up with it?

Re: 2000 Silverado radio lights??

i dont think there is a way to change the bulb the radio has to be sent out from dealership to the company that repairs them
its usualy cheaper to go to sterio shop and pick up a aftermarket one

I had the same problem with my 2000. I replaced the bulbs inside the radio, they need to be soldered in place but really isn't difficult. You can get the bulbs at Radio Shack (12volt) about $1 a piece. I think there were 11 total inside. I only needed to replace 5. Been over 4 months still burning bright. There's also a guy on ebay that sells them too. corvette something was his name but they cost more, about $20 for a pack of 8.

Re: 2000 Silverado radio lights??

Thanks for the info here.... I lost the #1-4 lights about 6 months ago, the #2-5 a few weeks ago and now the #3-6. The only buttons lit up are the ones I dont use.....I need to get it fixed.
