Re: budget beater c10 to k30 swap over build.

finished all the hardware swap over from mockup use stuff to final use with crimp style locknuts and shoulder bolts to fill the holes good and tight all on the rear end .

also figured out the best place i guess for the trailer plug 7-round & 4-flat combo unit . not exactly were i wanted it but oh well i guess . just need to get this truck done . also have yet to paint the D-ring's red yet . figure that might look kind of cool

also was looking at my shop wall art and remembered the last plow truck was to get this but didnt . . . . so time for this one to get the powder coated silver rear ruffstuff specialtys diff cover .

Nice work and I like the satin black. Hopefully the white stuff will hold off for a while and give you more time to get it stuck together. They're saying we're in for a nasty winter here. But I swear half of them say that every year.

Re: budget beater c10 to k30 swap over build.

so you got a lifted truck . you wana check your fluid levels . but the truck is just to dam tall and you need help from a ladder / bucket / someones back to stand on . . .

not anymore ! ........ next time your junk yard hunting grab some tools and get your self some g-series full size van dip stick units . this bolt in mod gets you front and center for easy checking of the vitals . even the p/s pump has a remote mount fill can with hose to main pump / tank unit .

oh ya and for a little extra possible help military k30 frame bolt in re-enforcement plates for the firewall drop down area of the frame .

Re: budget beater c10 to k30 swap over build.

getting stuff done on this SUPER NICE day with good shop doors open temps .

left brace top front 1st & 2nd hole in frame already . just mark drill 3rd and 2 bottom for 3/8" bolts .

right brace top 1st hole only in frame already . mark and drill the rest top and lower .

note lowers might be fun if no real lift springs or stock . i still have to undo the front yet 1 last time so i will drill those holes when springs are out .

Re: budget beater c10 to k30 swap over build.

Nice. This is the first time I saw this thread. Love the shop and work--way more than I can do.
I have a 4500, planetary box and round 205 waiting, but the 203 range box and 203 are sweet.
No idea why no one wanted that 4x4 in snow country...

Re: budget beater c10 to k30 swap over build.

the body doner was a 2wd c10 not 4wd .

and nice combo 4500/planatry box / 205 . if i had it to do over again i would do that over a 203/205 . you get 2:1low / 4:1 low-low . your combo you get 2:1low / 2.72:1 mid low / 5.33:1 ish low-low true 3 speed range combo .

Re: budget beater c10 to k30 swap over build.

wow been busy with house redo jobs and finally had a few hr's tonight to scuff off the heavy rust and brush on some more black paint on bumper brackets for the front and plow frame mount setup and cucv brush guard .

finally figured out why the paint wasnt sticking in some almost bare metal areas . . . leave on some of the rust . . . i am just gooping the stuff with a cheep 1 dollar brush and out of a 1qrt can of semi gloss rustolium . its a beater and a plow truck it wont last anyway .

anyway waiting for the last few ordered items to arive from shipping delays and far away orderes . then its game on for final parts on before cab set down and bolt up .

Re: budget beater c10 to k30 swap over build.

good day today .

got a lot of wires cleaned up / crimped up with heat shrink / loomed up / zip tied or clamped / still got a few more to layout and do yet for some gauges on the top of the dash .

steering column was STILL fighting me . in total i had to swap in a good used ignition sector unit / lube up a LOT of dried out grease spots / loctight red the 4 tilt screws / bend the lock plate back in shape in the shop press it was skipping / get horn guts from parts column . . . wow what a chore . but the horn even goes honk honk

then i got the front drive shaft to the drive-line shop to get checked over and re-tubed . flange flat to center of cap in the truck for my weird piece meal combo was 35.5" long . th400/custom almost 1" spacer / 203 adapter / 203 range box / ord doubler plate / 205 with 32 spline front and 208 flange / with 3" ish lift springs front / ord shackles / sbc 350 engine / k30 frame .

took a look at he sniper throttle linkage area and like others i have decided to make my own extender arm . there stuff is to short and stiff in the cab . also with limited travel my th400 kick down switch don't even come close to hitting . i have come up with around a 1 1/4" hole to hole extender . still need to test it for 100% and no binding or bottom out . but it will be a bolt on item .

she is getting super close to a shake down run .

Re: budget beater c10 to k30 swap over build.

few shots today . got the box on/in place . the exhaust buttoned up in place . 3" single outlet driver side front of tire .

and those pics the truck had a 1" zero rate in the back . it was almost 3" taller than the front via the body line . i took it out and now its perfect new pics of that later when it drives .

Re: budget beater c10 to k30 swap over build.

Your truck is coming along nicely!

I'm a fan of the rubber floor setup. On my 1 ton Sub project the carpet is beyond shot, so I'll probably use a crew cab rubber kit and cut my own piece for the rear deck.

Re: budget beater c10 to k30 swap over build.

plow pump / fluid tank / valve body / belt / hoses minus the body to plow blade are all in place and cables hooked up and joystick tested .

looking for some fittings for the hoses out of the valve body . i would like 3/8" ORB male to 3/8" orb female in a 90* fitting . this would clean up the hose setup under the hood a bit . waiting for the hydro guy to be at work tuesday he had monday off . if they dont have it then i found them on ebay . i think these are what i want . https://www.ebay.com/itm/AF-6815-06....w/172512797579

otherwise shifters up threw the floor and double check stuff and drive it .

if i am feeling good and ahead of the curve maybe the light bar goes on also .

Great progress on your truck! I hate when you hide stuff from yourself and it always ends up being in a place you thought was a great idea to place it.

Re: budget beater c10 to k30 swap over build.

ya right on the work bench i have been using a month solid .

today is gauge cluster back in the dash day / 2 gauge bods on the CRACKED up dash pad . 1 - 3 gauge pod and 1 - 2 gauge pod unit .

the 3 gauge is fuel pressure/tach/engine vac up in center of dash pad in front of the steering wheel . the other is trans temp and pass side fuel transfer tank and he is just partly covering the what could have been center dash speaker spot and most of it is on the solid section .

will get pics up later tonight or friday tho .

Re: budget beater c10 to k30 swap over build.

well today was it . road test day . no real problems other than the sniper learning its self on the road other than my shop or driveway. did 15-20 miles of town / city driving with lots of stop and go . i still have a stiff start to the gas pedal for the tip in start . i think maybe the progressive linkage kit might help that . some guys have said it helps on the holley forum thread about it .

went good i am happy with it for the most part . got a few small bugs nothing major yet . few more old as hell light bulbs or sockets that need changed out . were working but now not . might bite the bullet and get the leds now so hopefully 1 last change out job for bulbs .

my fuel transfer system works SUPER EASY . tbi tank and sender with pump . wired to dash switch and autometer gauge . then BIG red light on dash only lights up when pumping so you dont forget and over fill . took less than 5 min to free flow from 1/8 tank to 3/4 tank on the driver side . it sure was nice not waiting in line at the pumps for a driver side fill this time . the pumps were full that way .

Re: budget beater c10 to k30 swap over build.

I bought the link for my previous Sniper for the progressive linkage mod but never installed it. Why? Because there's more to just installing the link and checking the "progressive" box in the sniper setup menu. According to your buddy Danny and a few others who have tried it, it doesn't have the correct acceleration enrichment tables in the software. So checking the box does nothing. It can be done but once again, someone smarter than most users (including me) has to create and tune the table. Another reason I cut my losses and tossed it.
