LMC once again trying to hoop Canadians

Just a note for anyone outside the USA ordering from LMC:

In January I ordered $1,400 worth of parts from LMC, quite a few small boxes which they decided to put into a box big enough for a windshield and then fill it 3/4 full with styrofoam peanuts.

But they promised to call me in 3 days with shipping quotes because they do not offer free shipping outside of the USA. Fair enough.

Two weeks later with no phone call at all from LMC, I finally tracked down someone at LMC that said the only way to ship it across the border was UPS for $400.

I paid this and got my parts 3 weeks later. (Doesn't seem like much of a courrier service that I paid for.)

Anyways, last week I ordered $1,300 more in parts from LMC and specifically said I needed to be called within 4 days with shipping quotes (even though they promised to call within 3 days).

So again, LMC didn't call me --- so I called their service department to today to complain.

Guess what? --- They called my back this afternoon and said they would ship my parts (a smaller order than the first time) for $580.

Don't they know that almost everyone in Canada has at least one truck and they should probably treat their customers here better??

Anyways, I'm going to get them to ship it free to a cross border agent in Montana and I will drive the 6 hour trip both ways just to make my point.

If anyone along Highway 2 needs to order something from the States, PM me and I will pick it up for you on the drive!

Re: LMC once again trying to hoop Canadians

yeah, I have ordered around $1000 worth of parts from LMC and have been really satisfied...(well 2 days ago they called and said their lens I ordered was no longer available..so I went to classic industries) but I have heard horror stories about them shipping to other countries.....best bet....pick it up in U.S.

Re: LMC once again trying to hoop Canadians

Well, I'd rather have my item over packed, then have damaged items, and shipping prices are always a cluster. I, myself stopped shipping outside the USA for this simple reason. I'd sell things and either I make no profit, or the person I'm selling to is paying more for shipping then the item. It isn't fair for either property.

The service from their shipping department isn't good, but everything else is status quo.

Re: LMC once again trying to hoop Canadians

Why would you order from them 2x? I bought some brake hoses from the LMC clowns, and after they screwed that up, I vowed never to buy from them, and I haven't. I get stuff from Classic Industries (I pick it up at their store in Huntington Beach) or order stuff from Classic parts. LMC has a great catalog, but that's about it.

Thank goodness I will be getting my parts from AC Delco for cost....

That sounds like a huuuuuge hassle.

LMC and Classic both work awesome for me. I order stuff, pick the cheapest shipping method or the free one, and it is here within 2 days. I ordered a door lock switch for my truck yesterday about 1pm my time. Looks like it will be walking in my door here at work about 11:30am this morning with their standard "3-5 day ground" shipping from UPS.

I'm in Canada and have had pretty much the same experience, no call, called them back got an insane shipping quote, paid it cause I needed the parts. Don't think I'm gonna order from them again.

Re: LMC once again trying to hoop Canadians

I have received very good service form them, but I don't have the cross-border issues that you do. Is there a way to ship bulky parts, at reasonable speed and cost, to Canada from the US? If so, please let us know. I have shipped things I sold on eBay and was shocked at the cost of shipping. I felt bad about charging so much, but I could not find a cheaper alternative.

US Postal Service is ALWAYS the cheapest, even with their expediated shipping.

The added cost of what UPS charges for "broker fees" (basically walking it accross the boarder) adds around $100 USD to the shipping cost as well.

Re: LMC once again trying to hoop Canadians

Thanks for the replies so far...I'm glad LMC treats their US customers better.

But here is a small business opportunity for someone on the Board here in the northern States....

We need a person that can recieve LMC parts to their US address, turn around and send those parts via United States Postal Service to the orderer's Canadian address.

Us Canadians could Paypal you the shipping charges plus your shipping fee of $25 (or whatever).

That would save me money and you would make a couple of bucks for one hour of work once in a while.

Anyone interested??

It would be beter than a cross-boarder service I use now because I have to go down there to get the parts myself.

Re: LMC once again trying to hoop Canadians

strange i order overseas an never had those problems before

last order was big and small items for 1523$ and payed 343$ for priority by Fedex got my parts 4 days later i allways email them and keep in touch until i get my shipping quotes. normaly about 5 buisness days

i only use LMC for specfic truck parts like sheet metal, trim etc and rockauto for normal parts. i havent had ANY luck with classic industries and the boardvenders are too expensive in shipping for the same part

Re: LMC once again trying to hoop Canadians

Thier shipping rates don't make sense. I ordered a cover for one of my trucks, it was $89.00 but with shipping it cost me just over $160.00. The box was the size of a case of beer and weighed around 10-15lbs.
When I ordered my dropmember rear from porterbuilt the shipping was only $170.00. There was four boxes and I could barely lift each one.
I won't use lmc again.

Re: LMC once again trying to hoop Canadians

Wow that is a whole lotta cash for shipping. Were the duty, brokerage and taxes at least included in that price? I sure hope so.

I've got a $2500 order on it's way from Jegs. "Shipping" shows as being $320 and change, but $240 of that is taxes, $47 brokerage and $20 on oversize freight. I haven't got my package yet but so far I am very happy with their rates.

I've got a $1300 order pending with Brothers. They show UPS shipping being $87.....hopefully that all goes well.

Re: LMC once again trying to hoop Canadians

See, that's what doesn't make sense. I get all sorts of different packages fro the States and lots are sent via UPS, some heavier than what I've ordered from LMC, some more expensive than what I've ordered from LMC.

But LMC "UPS" shipping is ALWAYS the most expensive by far.

Makes me think that LMC might 'pad' their UPS shipping fees to make more money because we aren't paying UPS directly for shipping, we pay LMC who then pays UPS.

I've ordered from LMC twice, the shipping was expensive...but the over packaging was insane! The amount of styrofoam peanuts really infuriated me, I won't order from them again.

actually we ship to canada and we use the USPS for most everything we can. They are not too bad. If your in a hurry It can get expensive. We ship worldwide and don't have too many problems except Germany
