nice find leon. sounds like a fair price where it's at. I'm curious what kind of a deal you end up with.

I think that as soon as you got the shop completed you felt empty nest syndrome...

Can't wait to see what you turn out with your next project.

Well, looks like you picked up a nice looking project to help pass the cold months ahead.

Any word on this truck?

Sounds like we need to have a "barn raising" meet at your place.... you're going to need the extra room.

Well, I bought this truck today. I had offered him $3000 if he could get it running. It wouldn't start the first time I went to look at it. (the guy is a mechanic for the Des Moines Metro Transit System) When I got to his house this afternoon he was trying to get it started but wasn't having any luck. I said I didn't think I wanted it if it wouldn't run and asked him if he would sell the tailgate separate. He said he wanted to keep the tailgate with the truck but if I wanted to take the truck as is he would sell it to me for $2500, so I went ahead and bought it….

Re: I found a really nice truck for Iowa

Rob,
I'll send some tomorrow. Actually i pm'd Leon & asked him if he'd be interested in a trade, so i have to send him sme pic's also. It'a a '73 '20 foot Airstream Argosy. Singel axle, sleeps 3 adults or 2 addys & 2 kids. The roof a/c is only a few years old & i did a partial re-furb on the interior after we bought it in 2006. New, vinyl tile, microwave, porcelin head, all new pex plumbing, new 12v deep cycle battery. It needs a strip & paint, & a new torsion axle since this is the original & it's lost most of it's cusion(still towable). A new axle complete w/brakes is $800.

Go here: http://www.airforums.com/forums/f227/ & look up my posts (MotorSeven) & there should be some pic's & info.

That's a neat truck Leon. Thanks for posting the SPID...I could never figure out when my truck color was called out as (544 White & Light Red) when it is orange! Now that I see your's is the same I understand that this is what this (orange) was called...Light Red. Looks like I need to change my handle to LightRedCrush1970!

No I haven't. The guy has to have his mother sign the title as seller because it's still in her and his dads name. He also had to pick up the camper jacks from her... Hopefully in the next coupe of days.

Uh-oh... now I'm curious!

I might have to make a trip for work up north in the next week or so, might have to make it an hour longer.

Now to me it looks more Red than Orange, but I've never owned anything Orange to compare it to.
