Re: LFD's gas pedal adapters (71-72 gas pedals in 67-70's)

I was looking at the lokar cable for this mod. Problem is lokar has a clevis attached to the pedal end, the stock pedal is not meant to have a clevis attached to it. The stock pedal is set up to have a the cable thread thru it. There is a little pastic bushing on the pedal and a lead bead that is crimped on to the cable to hold it in place. What would be the best way to adapt it?

You can cut and weld the pedal arm and drill it for the clevis. Or I think somebody, (Hartrod?) removed the clevis and just used the cable end on the stock pedal. I cut and welded mine.

I used the Lokar cable as well, I just pulled the cable all the way out of the sheath and fed it thru the stock pedal eyelet and back in the sheath. The cables pre crimped end then just rides up against the stock plastic insert for the original cable and has worked fine for me.

Re: LFD's gas pedal adapters (71-72 gas pedals in 67-70's)

Mine is finally in place and working like it should. It took a lot of tweaking, grinding and a little bending but it has the full range of motion, doesn't bind and it lets the pedal sit at a stock angle.

For as much work as it took to use my original '70 pedal linkage I should have probably just purchased a '71-'72 setup.

Re: LFD's gas pedal adapters (71-72 gas pedals in 67-70's)

I am converting over to a 71-71 on my 70gmc. Do you have any of these left?

Whats the reason needed for this adapter. whats different between the cabs?

thanks

No difference in the carbs, just makes it a more reliable/cleaner cable rather then the bar for the throttle. Older models had a bar and not this cable.

Re: LFD's gas pedal adapters (71-72 gas pedals in 67-70's)

lol sorry, no difference in the CABS, just how the pedal mounted. This is all included in the kit. The pedal mounted to the floor prior to 71 and had a bar, not a cable. They use the same three mount holes.

Cut, punched, drilled, packaged and labeled ready for my wife to drop them off at the post office in the morning. I have 9 more sets ready to go out as well for the next guys so it would only be a 1-2 day wait before being sent out.

Thanks guys.
