Front brake problem.

Hi.should try to expain the problem on my K2500 -92.

Driving at very low speed it,s very hard to brake carefully
without locking the front wheels. The truck brakes very hard.

I can hear a new "sound" when i hit the brake pedal.air maybe ?

Suspecting the brake master cylinder have failed but not sure.any tip would be nice.

/Glenn.

Re: Front brake problem.

I had an older car that did that and I believe the wheel cylinder had leaked fluid on the drums and shoes and caused them to grab. Regardless you need to get that checked quickly! Brakes are not something to drive around with if they are not working right.

Re: Front brake problem.

Harder than usual brake pedal pressure and a new sound too?
Sounds to me like a bad brake booster. When the booster diaphram ruptures you can hear a sound like air escaping when the pedal is pushed. It's actually vacumn and without it you have to push the pedal harder to make a stop. You may even notice the engine miss when you push the brake pedal.

Sounds just like it,i wrote master cylinder in my first post but it was the brake booster i was suspecting.Little difficult with the correct words sometimes.

And I can also hear a little difference in the engine idle rpm when i push the brake pedal.

Thanks
