Re: How long have you owned your square body

Chris, your Blue Stepside reminds me of the truck my Dad had when I was a child. We called her Ole Blue.
My 86 SWD C10 I have, is going on 6 yrs now. First 2 photos are the day I got it. The next 2 photos, are my changes:
Interior color change
New wheels & tires
Swapped out the Billet grille to a Stock Grille
Swapped out Cowl Induction to a NOS hood, and got it painted last year. And added a New Hood Emblem.
Last photo, is at the present time. The interior is going thru a few changes, again. I found some OEM seatbelts, so out with the aftermarket belts. I’ll be installing one of my “restored seats”. As you can see the seat have gone thru a few changes. And new Door Panels.

Re: How long have you owned your square body

my dad got his first square 1983 k10 305/700r4/208 long bed used in the late 80's when i was a kid . i later got it for a vehicle to drive and turned it in to a mud / snow truck with a built 400 sbc/th350/205 and 1ton axles 4.10 with 9" lift total and 38" swampers . had lots of fun in the old girl .

then since that truck left i have had over a dozen of them and they have only ever left in pieces never whole . my last square i had the longest was a 79 k30 c&c flatbed i used / fixed / body swapped / plowed and played with as well as d.d. use for years stock to 38" tires to 35" tires and back to stock . after 13 years with me she was finally done frame and 2nd body gone .

current truck for d.d. / work / plow is half of the old trucks drive-line / suspension / plow / and its also a k30 long bed .

i have 2 other k30 projects and a c10 project to finish yet so i am good for now .

Re: How long have you owned your square body

first truck i remember with me and dad as a little kid was this old girl . . . r.i.p old k20

1969 or 1970 GMC k20 sbc/465/205 married / 44 open knuckle drum brake front / 60 rear power-lok posi / 4.56 gears / old myers 8.5ft snow plow on full custom frame and tow truck push bumper combo . plow lights had RED jewel's in the back of the turn signals to show the driver there working .

i still have the bumper and hood . would LOVE to re-make v2.0 of the old girl . she was a custom color re-paint before my dad got her . copper / bronze mix and white top half .

funny story on this old girl . . . . i scrapped here in early 2000 and kept the bumper and hood . the hood sat in the field for years with grass all over it and in 2015ish i got the place i live now and the shop needed a awning over the entry door so i said to my self i wounder if the hood is still there and good . ? ......... see pic to know if it was

2nd funny story my last boss when i was towing for a living was a great old school guy . . . well one night it was slow just me and him chit chatting on old weird and funky stuff we have worked on or towed with over the years . i was describing this truck as i had no real good pics of her . he said WAIT JUST 1 MIN ........... out the office and down the basement . . .. heard some stuff getting tossed around in the basement ......... BAM back in the office and small box in his hand FULL of old pics . . . . he went threw them and pulled out THESE 3 PICS and said HIS TRUCK ? .............. i said YES THAT TRUCK ! ! ! .......... he said he painted it for the original owner WAAAAAAY back in the day . what got him thinking was the custom copper / bronze mix color . . . he never did or saw another like it since then . he gave me them 3 pics and i still have them and scanned them in to my computer .

i miss this old girl

Re: How long have you owned your square body

I have had this ol' truck for over 15 years. I let my daughter drive it to school when she was 14-her first vehicle, and she is 27 now. I have most everything to get it back to the condition it deserves, but I really like driving it and hate to give it up for that long. It has never sat for more than a few days without being driven, and it has always been a daily driver and still is-I drive it 25 miles a day 5 days a week. And I originally paid $800 for it. Still has the same engine in it. I will go through it and present it to my daughter-some day...

I don't drive it enough, tucked in the corner of the shop. Drive my 64' and 72' more.

Re: How long have you owned your square body

My 81 I just finished restoring. My Dad ordered it new in 1981. Sold in 1986. I searched and found it in 2017. Restored it this year. Not going anywhere now.
